Aus dem "Luminale" Programm:
Das Lichtdach Frankfurt schlägt eine Brücke zwischen den Zentren der Stadt – der Zeil und dem Bankenviertel. Zeil, Hauptwache, Goetheplatz, Kaiserplatz und Taunusanlage werden ein räumliches Kontinuum aus Licht. Das Lichtdach formt Raum und weitet ihn.

From the "luminale" program:
The Frankfurt light roof links the city centres – the Zeil (shopping area) and the banking district. Zeil, Hauptwache, Goetheplatz, Kaiserplatz and Taunusanlage are plunged into a spatial continuum of light. The light roof forms and extends space.

Aus dem "Luminale" Programm:
Die Dreikönigskirche in Sachsenhausen wird für die Zeit der Luminale 2008 in ein szenisches Licht getaucht werden. Die Lichtinstallation unterstützt die Architektur des spätgotische Bauwerks, indem wesentliche, bauliche Elemente akzentuiert werden. Durch unterschiedliche Lichtfarben, Warm weiß-Tageslichtweiß entsteht ein kontrastreiches Bild, das dem Betrachter die Differenzierung des Baukörpers aufzeigt.

From the "luminale" program:
The Dreikönigskirche in Sachsenhausen will be plunged into a scenic light for the duration of Luminale 2008. This lighting installation emphasises the architecture of this late gothic building by accenting fundamental structural elements. By means of different colours of light, warm-white-daylight white an appearance full of contrast emerges which shows the observer the differentiation of the building.

"Einem stillgelegten Industriebau aus den 1920er Jahren, der ehemaligen Frankfurter Großmarkthalle, steht unmittelbar die Umwandlung in den neuen Hauptsitz der Europäischen Zentralbank bevor. Ehe die realen Bauarbeiten auf dem Gelände des eindrucksvollen 220 Meter langen Gebäude auf dem Nordufer des Main beginnen, verursacht Casa Magica flüchtige, virtuelle, weil lichterzeugte Metamorphosen seiner Südfassade. Motivische Erinnerung an das Vergangene (Großmarkt) wie Hinweise auf das unmittelbar (Bauarbeiten) und langfristig (Hauptsitz der EZB) Zukünftige werden sich zu nächtlichen Panoramen fügen, in freier Adaption formalen Prinzipien folgend, wie sie Geldscheinen zu eigen sind, dem Gegenstand, in dem sich das Abstraktum der
Finanz wirtschaft im Alltag symbolisch konkretisiert."

A disused industrial building of the 1920s, Frankfurt’s former wholesale market is about to be converted into the new headquarters of the European Central Bank. Before the real construction work begins on the site of the impressive, 220-metre-long building on the northern banks of the River Main, Casa Magica creates ephemeral, virtual metamorphoses,
generated by light, on its southern facade. These night panoramas consist of motifs recalling the past (wholesale market) as well as allusions to the near (construction
works) and distant (new ECB premises) future, freely adapting the formal principles characterising banknotes, those objects that are the concrete everyday symbol of the abstract concept of the financial economy.

After I took the skyline shot, I went to this place as I've never been there in the dark. I had to pause several times as cyclists and joggers crossed the bridge - at that time in the night... do these people have no home?

The Frankfurt Skyline seen from the "Flösserbrücke" (see de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flößerbrücke). That day I decided to stop on my way home to take a skyline shot or two, but when I was there it was raining (you can't see that due to the long exposure time) - I still gave it a try, although the weather didn't motivate me to take more than this shot...

A few weekends ago, we went to Strasbourg, which is about a two hour drive away - apart from being a beautiful city anyway, there where a lot of nice lighting installations throughout the town and around the cathedral.
