Heute schließen alle Hertie-Kaufhäuser, also auch das wunderbare Jugendstil-Haus in Görlitz. Am 30. September 1913 wurde das "Kaufhaus zum Strauß" eröffnet, 1929 kam es zum damals größten europäischen Warenhauskonzern Karstadt. Die DDR hatte das Haus als HO Warenhaus (HOWA) überstanden - die Irrungen und Wirren um Karstadt, wozu es bis 1946 und seit 1991 wieder gehörte, bis es dann 2005 abgespalten wurde und als Hertie in den langsamenWarenhaus-Tod ging, nicht.

Das einzige Warenhaus alten Stils in Deutschland: 1913 als "Kaufhaus zum Strauss" (nach dem Oberbürgermeister) im Jugendstil eröffnet, 1929 von Karstadt übernommen. Seit März 2007 ist es ein Hertie-Haus. | The only old-style (art nouveau) department store in Germany: Opened 1913 aus "Department store Strauss" (named after the mayor of Görlitz), run by Karstadt since 1929, since march 2007 it runs under the name of "Hertie".
