Hamster A Day # 120!
Introducing Jasper! He is approx 3-4 weeks old. We got him today and yes, he does look like Sherbet. I just cant get over her death that easily and so I got a little boy that looked a lot like her this time. I got a boy to try to avoid any female complications etc. I know that doesn't guarantee anything, but I hope he lives a long and pampered life like Mr. HP. :)

He is getting better on the taming end of things, I took him out for a short hop on to the towel next to his aquarium. I let him run around there and check it out. He had some broccoli as a treat for being a good boy! He was comfortable enough with me and a camera in his face to start cleaning, and he did nibble the broccoli in my hand! I'm so happy! By no means can I just pick him up though, I have to be really careful with him or he gets spooked, but I think he is adapting pretty well.

He is showing us his good side here!! He is all ready becoming camera savvy.I think that's because the camera smells like hamsters!

He is every much the baby. This morning while I was getting ready, he was napping and I heard him make a barking, screaming noise! I think he was having a nightmare of a big hand coming to pick him up or something! Sherbet used to do that when she was a baby too. So far, I am thrilled with the way he is behaving. When I pick him up I try not to do it with my hand but I put him in something like his play tube or his wheel. He likes his wheel a lot and feels secure in it. Then I bring him to my bed where I let him run around or I put him on his towel, he like that too. He can explore in relative security. He is still quite jumpy and will be for some time. If I make a sudden movement he freaks a bit so I have to move slowly around him.

My throat is so so sore, I think this is the sorest it has ever been. I've lost my voice and tomorrow I'm going to the docs. I have taken a hot bath and am now sipping tea. Unfortunately this is like the busiest time of year at the zoo as its spring break. I am working tomorrow but the docs first. :( I'm going to bed.

I wish!! Man I have been so sick, it would be great if they could really pitch in because my room is a disaster! If I'm not at work, I'm usually sleeping so I will probably hit the hay soon. I have work tomorrow, but attendance at the zoo is not expected to be great. Good Friday was the worst and that is when I was the sickest! I have Monday and Tue off and I am really looking forwards to that!!
