Given that I seem to stay on this hill a lot, I am beginning to build up quite a collection of images that cover this view. Further up than usual, with still very strong light; I was pretty sure that a lot of the detail of the sky colour and the cliff faces would be lost. So a five exposure bracket with the intention of HDR, yielded something with the same colour and tone (after tonemapping). Using a blend the picture looks flatter, but keeps the colour. I'm guessing I just can't keep the contrast and detail in that version.

HDRShop was incapable of dealing with this image - colour noise all over the place. I have produced a split developed version. but this is cleaner

Tree lined walk in Hesdin, prepared as a HDR, tone mapped and saved as LDR. High contrast and black and white with selective colour as normal. Gives it an antique look without having to add a colourise element to a normal b/w and retained more detail in the original. Which of course I just blew out with the over-exposed sky and shadows :)

I read in photography monthly about a free (for non-commercial) HDR program (www.debevec.org/HDRShop). I thought I would give it a go.

HDR and tonemapped rendering of Ryssen plant in Hesdin. Less mucking around with layers, but a lot of learning about gamma curves and HDRShop going on
