It was the perfect night, the perfect weather, the perfect company... and an imperfect and broken lens that was always out of focus on the left side.

For that reason I never posted these photos, they are imperfect photographically... but there is something I really like about them... maybe the nothingness... or the memories :o)

Anyway, since we've had no proper snow this winter, I decided to post my imperfections from February last... because of what I find to be the perfect mood :o)

Digging into the archives I found photos from a phototrip I took with friends last May.

This is an abandoned house at the end of the Universe... The mood of the weather, overcast and heavy, fit this place perfectly... the house standing alone under dominant mountains... very strange atmosphere.

I wanted to try some HDR and this is the outcome... there are so many things to tweak and turn and twist... one can very easily go overboard with HDR! But maybe I was a bit too careful...

Drove by the Blue Lagoon this afternoon. The autumn sun was low and created sharp shadows on the lava.

Went on the spur of the moment with a very good friend to see the famous and much photographed rock of Hvítserkur. It was an adventurous journey... and at the end of it the beast awaited patiently... :o)

In the sand, not far from the church, this old ship wreck rests. It might be difficult to realize the size of it but it's quite big... the steering blade (too bad it can not be seen on this photo) is taller/higher than I am... quite a lot :o)

I visited the island of Flatey on Breiðafjörður for a weekend recently. It was like stepping a few (or many) decades back in time.

The island is often used as a location for movies because of it's old time charm :o)

Last week I went for a three day hiking trip to Kerlingarfjöll (The Giantess Mountains). They are situated between two large glaciers; Hofsjökull and Langjökull.

The Kerlingarfjöll area is one of the largest geothermal areas in all of Europe and is truly a hikers paradise... and a place where fire and ice meet and co-exist :o)

I tried to capture the beauty of the place but I find my photos very lacking in the real atmosphere of the place... the wide spaces, the incredible colours, the sounds, the smell... it is something that has to be experienced :o)

Húsavík's answer to the Blue Lagoon!

It is originally set up by a few individuals from Húsavík... the tub itself comes from a cheese factory and the changing facilities are in a container ;o) The geothermal water in it comes from a borehole nearby.

I didn't go in this time, just visited it with my camera... the guys asked if I was from some magazine or paper, but I had to disappoint them ;o)

I suggest looking at it in the original size, looks much better...
