Krakaudorf, Styria, municipality in the district of Murau, alt. 1,173 m, pop. 640, area 29.68 km2, scattered settlement in the mountains near the southern edge of the Niedere Tauern mountain range. - Main sources of income: agriculture, summer tourism (17,280 overnight stays).- Romanesque-Gothic parish church (1759-1767 remodelled in Baroque style), timber-panelled ceiling (1534) and frescoes by J. Lederwasch (1793); Late Gothic church of St. Ulrich (1478-1497) with winged altarpiece (1521) in the municipality of Krakauhintermühlen. Customs: Samson procession on the feast day of St. Oswald (first Sunday in August), biennial carnival run.

The Krakau Valley lies between the Mur Valley and the Niedere Tauern mountains and is drained by the Rantenbach stream. The area, which is highly interesting in terms of folklore, comprises the municipalities of Krakau, Krakauschatten (alt. 1,124 m, pop. 327) and Krakauhintermühlen with the Krakau Plain (alt.1,260 m, pop. 579).

Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf liegt im Industrieviertel in Niederösterreich am Rande des Steinfeldes.
Im Altertum war das Gebiet Teil der Provinz Pannonia. Im österreichischen Kernland Niederösterreich liegend teilte der Ort die wechselvolle Geschichte Österreichs.

Es ist anzunehmen, dass das Gebiet der Gemeinde Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf bereits in urgeschichtlicher Zeit besiedelt war. Dank verschiedenster Funde aus der Römerzeit konnte im Raum Wiener Neustadt ein Netz von Straßen und lokalen Verkehrswegen rekonstruiert werden, das auch die Gemeinde Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf einschloss. Auch heute erinnert daran noch der so genannte “Römerweg”, der von Brunn nach Willendorf führte.

Obwohl bis zum 12. Jahrhundert keine schriftlichen Aufzeichnungen vorliegen, zeugen Orts-, Gewässer- und Siedlungsnamen, dass sich im Gebiet der Gemeinde Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf Slawen und vorbayerisch-germanische Stämme niedergelassen hatten.

Muthmannsdorf wurde zwischen 1107 und 1122 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. In der Gründungsurkunde für die Pfarre Waldegg scheint 1136 ein gewisser “Hiltegrunn de Mutinesdorf” als Zeuge auf, dessen Amtssitz der so genannte “Burgstall” oberhalb der Ansiedlung gewesen sein dürfte. Die erstmalige urkundliche Erwähnung von Winzendorf fällt in den Zeitraum von 1157 bis 1163. Sie findet sich in einer Urkunde, mit der der Bischof Konrad von Passau anlässlich eines Rechtsstreits den Besitz der Weingärten geregelt hatte.

Die Pfarrkirche St. Peter am Moos wurde 1136 errichtet und 1220 zum ersten Mal urkundlich erwähnt. Kulturelle Höhepunkte des Ortes sind die Niederösterreichischen Meisterkonzerte in der Pfarrkirche. Die Muthmannsdorfer Pfarrkirche St.Peter am Moos beinhaltet sehenswerte
Fresken um 1250 und einen frühgotischen Karner.

Der Regensburger Dom (auch: Kathedrale St. Peter) ist die bedeutendste Kirche der Stadt Regensburg und Kathedrale des Bistums Regensburg.
Die Kirche ist ein Hauptwerk der gotischen Architektur in Süddeutschland.
Am 13. September 2006 besuchte Papst Benedikt XVI. den Dom zu Regensburg und hielt dort ein ökumenisches Abendlob ab.
