Demo of Cooliris Photo Viewer on EeePC Netbook

Thought I'd record a short demonstration of the Cooliris photo viewer. Cooliris is a free plug-in tool for Firefox (IE and Safari ports are also available).

It works really well on Firefox for Linux as well as with the limited system resources of netbooks, like the EeePC.

In the last couple of minutes of the video I plug in a full sized LCD monitor.

Demo video of my ASUS eeePC running the first person shooter game, Return To Castle Wolfenstein.

I'm using Mandriva 2008.1 Spring as my OS.

Not sure why the sound is garbled in places... it was fine before uploading to ipernity's website. Will have to experiment with the sound settings in future videos.

ASUS eeePC running Compiz 3D desktop, on Mandriva 2008.1 operating system and KDE.

This is a stock eeePC 701, 900Mhz processor, with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal SDHC. The only "modification" that's been done is, I have an 8GB SDHC in the interal SD card reader and have mapped /usr to it, providing additional storage space for Mandriva.

I'm giving it a try on installing ubuntu onto an 8GB SD-card. It's just funny to see that the eeepc is even smaller than the DVD-drive ubuntu is installing from.

Today finally my new toy arrived. It's the Asus Eeepc 4G. It's really great, but I think I'll install ubuntu quite imideately, since I miss freedom in getting things done right now.
For example I had to get an Eeepc with German keyboard layout, since there where none with us layout available. With the OS preinstalled I can't even change that...

BTW this shot is taken with the internal webcam.

New Lumix digital camera combined with the Linux based EeePC makes a pretty powerful mobile photo lab! These are two pieces of technology that compliment each other very well.

The software running on the EeePC is gThumb; a photo organizer with some photo touch-up capabilities. Seems to access the photos on the camera without any difficulty.
