This is my vision of The St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244 (Matthäuspassion) by Johann Sebastian Bach who created it in 1727.
This Passion according to Saint Matthew sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew to music, with interspersed chorales and arias.

This image is my first collaboration with Umesh Shrestha who is a Nepali model.

This image is inspired by an historical event it took place yesterday in my country... After 26 years of not being able to rule a new Media Law to derogate the military dictatorship decrete, yesterday, the Senate made a new law!!!!
To me and many others it is a great historical time. To another part of the society is a black day...
It is becoming more and more usual in Latin American countries, while trying to make changes in the powers ruling for centuries in the region, that societies split in two....
The Mass media around the world, a big corporation, watch our SouthAmerican Process with criticism and our goverments as populists...
For some of us, is becoming a great time to live in!

El proyecto se debatió durante casi 20 horas, entre las 10.30 de la mañana del viernes 9 y las 6 de la mañana del sábado 10 de octubre, principalmente, porque hubo más de 50 oradores, la mayoría de los cuales habló durante por lo menos media hora.

We have a phrase in spanish…”tener los pájaros volados” o “estar con los pájaros volados”... literally would be To have the birds gone flying…or something like that…. The real meaning… to be rather crazy…

This is a portrait of Satya Paul who is a living legend.
Satya Paul is considered as one of the greatest figures in the Indian fashion industry.
This self-taught designer is a pioneer since the sixties and his legacy could be compared to the work of Yves Saint Laurent.
His major contributions to design has been of questioning and changing the way to wear and perceive the sari and the salwar kameez by innovating the very form and drape of it.
He is currently supporting and promoting the various crafts of weaving from all over India.
His name is well-known everywhere in the country and all my Indian friends dream to wear his sarees.
However Mister Satya Paul is the most humble fashion designer that I ever met.
I meet him for a week twice a year as our booths are next to each other during a show.
I am lucky to be able to share a few words with him every morning then and to listen to his wonderful words of wisdom about life.
There is a radiant energy coming from his amazing happiness.

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"
A photograph can say so many things or nothing.
Sometimes the viewers want to see in it things which are not there...
It is important to know everything in order to have the capacity to form an opinion on what we see.

This picture belongs to the catalogue of our new collection.
Anand who became the icon model of what we are doing since several seasons is holding a woolen throw with aari embroideries influenced by the Mughals and the Rajputs styles.
It was shot a few days ago when it was really hot outisde, we went to the upper terrace of our office in order to use this amazing wall as a background.
Because of the heat we couldn’t stay for a long time, we had to be fast.
Maybe my friend was nude under the throw, maybe he was not; but it is not important.
This picture is made in order to attract your attention to what is behind this, what you can’t see.
There are many people there who manage to have a decent life because of the orders we get on those items, children go to school, families have medical care, amazing artcrafters carry on their work which was vanishing like handloom weavers, tailors, dyers, embroiderers,...
Everyone involved in this small industry in Varanasi (Benaras) belongs to several cultures, religions or castes and had many difficulties in their lives, all together they rely on this work in order to keep faith in a better life.
Anand is happy to make those pictures, he is the one who had the idea to pose for me, he became a kind of local hero but most of all he found out that he had the skill to be a model “even” if he has a dark skin complexion which is a cultural taboo in India.
Our publicity campaign is also a way to fight against colour skin discrimination.

I am sorry to have to explain to those who wrote to me that I am “exploiting poor” people in those series that there is no exploitation of anyone in this work.
However if I give a second thought maybe I am exploiting YOU, those who believe so, as in fact Anand never posed nude on the upper terrace which is surrounded by several buildings and therefore I had to use Photoshop to pretend that, but this is another topic...

Today is Bastille Day, the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year.
In France, it is called Fête Nationale ("National Celebration"), or more commonly quatorze juillet ("14 July").
It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

For the first time India is the guest of honour and 400 soldiers who belong to several troops from the Indian army were invited to open the parade avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
At the end of this parade a paratrooper landed place de la Concorde in front of the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy and the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh holding an Indian flag.

I met this soldier in Chandigarh the capital of Punjab he was in duty in front of the Capitol Complex and he accepted that I made his portrait.
