After Hurricane Isabel Tears through the Chesapeake Bay in 2003, Destroying the Very Old Harrison's Pier. Someone who is reflecting on the loss of one of the areas best fishing places, or of a loss of a landmark in the community.

On the top of a hill lost in the jungle of Bandhavgarh in the Indian state Madhya Pradesh, there are the remains of old temples and palaces where tigers like to spend their days.
This was shot there at sunrise when everything all around seems to be still sleeping.

I was reading “A life of dignity”, an article wrote by a journalist, Vimala Ramachandran, according women's Struggle in Rural Rajasthan.

In Rajasthan many of the new economic opportunities enjoyed by middle class Indians do not penetrate to the remote interior villages.
Ancient traditions, religion, caste-based patriarchy, the economic effects of global capitalism combine with environmental stress factors to make the way forward extremely complex.

Here, she writes, is what rural women themselves long for: a group of villager women came together for a training workshop under the Government's women empowerment programme.
The workshop facilitator asked them if there was anything that they really yearned for.
The women were silent for some time. Suddenly, one landless woman answered:
``I want to live in dignity, I do not want to be reduced to a state of helplessness where there is no
respect for me as a human being - yes, that's what I want, I want to live in dignity.''

To live in dignity means meeting the basic needs such as clean water, toilets, fuel, food and a roof
over our head; freedom from violence; justice - a society where right and wrong is recognised; equity
between men and women and between people; not be dependent for essentials on the outside world;
opportunity to know the world outside - mobility, exposure and information; society where every child
experiences childhood, where children go to school; good health; a clean environment and a say in
decisions which affect their lives.

I took this picture on a road which was going through several villages from Jaipur to Agra.
I realized that since a while I could see more and more Rajasthani villagers working in other states of the country.
Little by little, they leave their land in order to find jobs but it must be so difficult for those migrant labor to survive outside the state...

Malvern Battlefield, Richmond, Virginia. Here an Army of 90,000 Union Troops, Led by General McClellan Defend the Tree Line and Ridge of Malvern Hill. From the Bottom of this Photo, Robert E. Lee Attacks with His Southern Confederate Forces in Wave after Wave of Troops. The Artillery Fire from the House and Tree Line is Too Much, and the Confederates Lie Down in the Wheat Fields, Hoping to Escape Death. It is said in these Fields, where the Confederates died in the Thousands Trying to Chase the Northern Union Troops away from Richmond that this was "Murder" and Not "War". The Next Morning, July 2nd, 1862 - The Federals or Union Troops had Withdrawn to the James River. The Confederates having Chased McClellan Away from Richmond after Seven Days of Bloody Battles Were in no Condition to Pursue the Retreating Federals.

Today, the Fields at the time of July are Kept in Wheat, Just as they were July of 1862, and It is Life of Substance they Provide the World, Instead of the Lead of Death.
