This is the game I'm playing right now, and if I beat it, it will probably be the last game I get through this year.

I played this game in January, and thought that the day stages were fantastic; some of the best Sonic game-play I had experienced in a long time. Sure, there are plenty of things wrong with almost every other aspect of the game, but I think being able to do the day stages was worth it. As such, I thought I'd grab some video. Of course, it had been about 10 months since I last played, so I was a little rusty.

I bring you footage of me playing Play 2 for the Eye Toy on PS2. I figured it would be something different to see, and though it's not the best compilation of Eye Toy mini-games out there (I think Sega Superstars can win that one), it was the one that had a save file on the memory card that was in my PS2 at the time I was looking for one more game to record.
I originally was going to make the video longer, but then decided that I didn't need to make myself look like a fool for THAT long of a time.

Jurassic: the Hunted on PS2

Here's some video from the first few levels. It's too bad I didn't end up capturing some of the following levels, as I did end up squaring off against some giant scorpions, pterodactyls, a t-rex, and a spinosaurus. With a game this short I may have time to go back and get some more footage though :)

It was fun (simple, uncomplicated, no frills fun) while it lasted, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it.

Remember Operation?

I used to play this game as a kid, about 25 years ago, and the game has changed over the years.

I was rather sad to see classic body parts like the funny bone being replaced with phone finger, and “time on the hands”. However, there are some nice features added to the version I have, including a difficulty setting. Normal difficulty will buzz as soon as you touch the edges, but easy setting will give the player a second before buzzing so that quick touches count against them. This makes it easier for youngsters that are still fine tuning their dexterity and co-ordination. You can also switch difficulty levels on the fly, so that experienced players (like yours truly) don’t have it made too easy for them.

I picked up Super Hero Squad yesterday to play with the kids. It's basically a simplified version of the X-Men Legends and Ultimate Alliance games geared to a younger audience. Generally speaking the developers have managed to make it kid friendly, at least in terms of difficulty level. Attacking is simple, and you don't have to worry about using every button on the controller. What they don't do, unfortunately, is tell you anything about the special moves you can perform. You have to kind of figure out how to do those on your own.

The other thing that they seem to have forgotten is SAVE POINTS. I grabbed some video, and I had to play for almost 40 minutes to get through 5 stages to get to a save point. Sure, you could continue from the beginning of each if you died, but if you stop playing your progress is lost. So far I've only tried out adventure mode, and when i was playing with oldest, he was having fun.

You also get to play as some characters that aren't available (as far as I know) in the other team super hero games, such as Silver Surfer and Falcon.

I recently picked up some new video editing software. I was finally able to ditch MS Movie Maker.

I ordered Sony Vegas Movie Studio which came with Cinescore and Architect DVD authoring software.

I went with this program, as I've used Vegas before when it was released by Sonic Foundry, and found it really easy to use. So far this version is very familiar, and has a great layout with nice options. Good enough for my home movies and things like that at least. I'm not looking to produce short films or anything like that :)

So with my new software I put together a nice little video of me doing incredibly poorly at Taiko Drum Master for PS2.

I also learned that I need a non-slip mat under the drum. You may notice at about a minute in I have to turn the drum back to face me. It's hard to tell because of the camera angle, but there was one point I was almost hitting it side-ways, which didn't help my accuracy.

Anyway; enjoy my mediocrity :)
