Sattva (Sanskrit for “the essence of being”) invokes the silent, serene space that awaits us beyond our mind.
On this soulful debut offering, gifted multi-instrumentalist Manish Vyas displays a splendid musical sensibility.
His expressive voice and rich compositions based on ancient mantras and tarana reflect a natural intuition for crafting dynamic soundscapes from traditional influences.

"Suitable for all kinds of contemplative practices, Sattva is pleasure as pure listening." --Yoga Journal

NILADRI KUMAR is a Son and Disciple of Sitar Maestro PANDIT KARTICK KUMAR, he is undoubtedly one of the finest young Sitar Virtuoso today.
Years of learning have resulted in a prodigious technique and deep understanding of diverse musical styles.
His open mind has led to an extension of his musical horizon to incorporate imaginative experiments in world music styles that delight the young and the old.
He has persformed all over the world, in prestigious music concerts and festivals.
He has been awarded the titles SUR RATNA, SURMANI, JADUBHATTA PURASKAR and the SANSKRITI AWARD for excellence in music performance.

I have also purchased this album in the same little CD shop along river Ganga in Varanasi (Benaras) that I have mentioned several times.

The singer of this funny chacha is the great Asha Bhosle (Marathi: आशा भोंसले) who was born in 1933 and whose career started inn1943 and has spanned over six decades.
She has done playback singing for over 950 Bollywood movies and sold many records.
She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.
In a way I would say that Asha Bhosle is a kind of Indian Edith Piaf.
She is believed to have sung over 12,000 songs and was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records during 1974-1991, for having sung the most songs in the world.
Among numerous awards, in 1997 she became the first Indian singer to be nominated for the Grammy Award, she has received seventeen Maharashtra State Awards and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, she holds honorary doctorates from the University of Amravati and University of Jalgaon in Literature, she has received The Freddie Mercury Award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts, the Birmingham Film Festival paid her a special tribute in November 2002 ans she was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India.
