SS Dicky wreck - Full moon rises over the beach, . Moffat Beach - Caloundra to the right. Moon rise and Sunset were almost at the same time.

The moon is superimposed, it would not be possible otherwise. The real moon has no textures and due to long exposure there is a bit of movement.

MadMax - The Interceptor

Filming locations for the movie MadMax II - The Road Warrior 1981 included parts of Broken Hill and Silverton
A replica of Mad Max's V8 Interceptor is parked outside the Silverton Pub.
The original Interceptor was created using a 1973 Ford XB GT Falcon Hardtop (XB GT Falcon Coupe) as the base vehicle.

Normally there are many care parked to either side of this vehicle. So I decided to head out again well before sunrise. Well, there was still a 4WD to the right....bugger.

I have helped some stars a little bit to make them a bit brighter....ok

The Big Red

The Big Red, recognised as the challenge for 4WD enthusiast, is located 35km west of Birdsville QLD - Australia. The Big Red is the first and highest of 1100 dunes in the Simpson Desert, which run north-south for hundreds of kilometres.

The Big Red stands approximately 36.5m (120ft) above sea level and is a unique wonder of the outback.

Astronomer's Monument

The Astronomer's Monument is one of the attractions of Lighning Ridge.
It is difficult to describe the character of this hand built concrete monster. It is an observatory, but the dome on top of the building never could open up to make room for the telescope. The owner never did own a telescope.

Don't forget that this weekend it's the global 100 Hours of Astronomy event as part of the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009). There's a huge number of events around Australia and there's likely to be one near you.

The Cape Byron Lighthouse stands on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland and is Australia's most easterly lighthouse.
A ripper of a location for a fantastic sunrise and you will surely not be the only one enjoying it.

This is a fine example of Australian bush architecture. Short of building materials, early mining camp settlers made their shelters out of whatever they could get their hands on, including discarded beer cans.

The colours I had that morning were already insane but I added to this by increasing the vibrance and saturation slightly.... Yeah, I love vibrant pictures and hope I have still been able to convey natures expression and my feelings in a natural way.

Unfortunately this tree does not exist anymore...what you see here is history.
It is so sad that many of the wonderful trees I have discovered and photographed along the coast were victimised. It has become an obsession for me to capture these "beaudies"...it's like a race against time. I hope you enjoy this one.... it was taken at Wellington Point.

Derelict double-decker bus standing in the middle of a flat plain near Merti Merti in the Strzelecki Desert of South Australia. I should add that in my map this is declared a bush campground.
