This is a shot from a glorious morning of picture-taking that I had the other day. I was chasing this wonderful light all around the yard before it disappeared. Unfortunately, I was having such a good time that I really wasn't paying much attention to my technique, so only a few shots even came out well enough to keep.

I had a great time, though!!!

We were told Wednesday to expect some light snow with no accumulation...this is what we woke up to on Thursday morning!!! Baton Rouge got 3", and where I live we got FIVE!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, it wasn't all fun. It snowed for hours, and, as it accumulated, you could hear the tree limbs cracking and falling all over. By 8:30 A.M. I was without power, and it didn't come back on till 4:00 yesterday afternoon.

It was worth it, though...*+^

note: This shot was taken around 7 a.m. as I was putting stuff in the truck, getting ready to leave for work...I didn't make it...^+^

Taken on the side of a country road where there is access to the open fields beyond. The morning sun was already flooding the pasture, but the trees at the roadside were still just shadows...

I was trying my hand at using 2 layers, one exposed for the sky and one exposed for the foreground, to have the whole shot evenly exposed. After a lot of dodging and burning, I ended up with this.

Occasionally, I like to walk this trail that runs along the Comite River in Baker, Louisiana. It used to be a simple walking path, but has turned into a 4-wheeler course. Judging from the campfires and litter that you find, it looks like a popular place for teenagers to hang out and drink...

Yesterday was so gray and overcast, with very light occasional rain, that I went out looking for black and white opportunities. There was an almost tangible menace in the air...

A typical sight in South Louisiana. This is a welder's shop or shed, located on the West Bank of the Mississippi in Brusly. It doesn't look like much, but I'm sure it's a welder's dream!!!

BTW, that's the levee in the background, and all the smoke is from chemical plants along the River.
