Gunnar and Varði having some fun :-) This photo was taken when we were discharging our fish outside Nouakchott in Mauritania. Gunnar is the Capitan on a same kind of ship as our ship and Varði is the chief engineer.

Skiing in Grouse Mountain in Vancouver. This was the first year we took our girls skiing. Sara got the hang of it in no time but Anja will need a little bit more time.

I was a little bit amazed to see how open this platform was and how unprotected the area was, considering how high and steep the hill was. I guess I am getting too used to see all the fences around similar places when I am traveling in Canada. I like it much better like this :)

This platform is very high in the mountain and the drop is nearly straight to the sea. The small town of Agaete is seen in the background.

There is no road that leads to the houses in the middle of this hill so I can't imagine how it is living there. I guess taking out the garbage or running to the store for some eggs might take a while :-)

When I saw these kids I started to think about my own childhood and how it must be for these kids to growing up in a place like that. I felt sorry for them because they looked so lonely, but then I realized they had the sun all year around, the beach and the warm sea, so I guess they are fine :)

The streets are narrow and steep. My guess is that most of the houses in the old town were built around old trails.
