An early rendition of the "Rantin' Laddie" as sung (I think publicly for the first time) by Cindy Kallet and Gordon Bok. Later to appear in their "Neighbors" album... but this was a live show (two years earlier) that I was recording from the stage at the Champlain Valley Folk Festival, on the Lakeside Stage.

I included this in our first compilation album of Champlain Valley Folk artists with people like Kathryn Tickell, John Roberts and Tony Barrand, Eric Bogle, Utah Phillips, Norman Kennedy, Margaret McArthur, etc. Also in my own repertoire, with a slight change - "...done as my bonnie lad bade me" rather than "...told me," and first performed in duet with Sara Pirtle when opening for Charlie King.

Holyrood - the ancient volcanic core (stripped of its surrounding mountain) stands beautifully revealed at the centre of Edinburgh. The waves and tubes of basaltic lava and red granites are all frozen in visible sheets and upthrust shards.

It is a strangely peaceful world - inhabited by hundreds of rabbits.
