This endless number of origami cranes is a japanese symbol of peace originated in Hiroshima after the explosion of the atomic bombs when a little girl started to fold them in the hope that this will help her to survive. But she died.

In the memory of this girls people continued to fold this cranes and bringing them to the temples and shrines in the hope of a better and peaceful world.

On our last trip to Shibuya we went into a small Matsuri (japanese traditional festival). The main part of such a matsuri is carrying the so called mikoshi (portable shrine) through the streets. As you can see here, the mikoshis are extremely heavy, up to several tons, and you need much power to carry at on your shoulders...

One year ago I was in Japan and tried panning shots...

In the Ueno park in Tokyo on can see a lot of the homeless people from Tokyo living there in self-made tents off blue plastic foil. In some sense they are a part of the park, like the cherry trees, the lotus plants or the tourists. They're always calm, never aggressively begging. Most of them try to live a life as normal as possible, so they keep their places clean, and very often one can see, that they even put off their shoes if they're entering their tents, like all Japanese do if they enter their homes.

The main story behind this pictures is not the existence of japanese style german cosplayers. Anime, manga and all this things are so popular that it is no wonder that there are cosplayers here in Germany.

The point is a little bit more subtle. The pictures at the wall in the background... At the last weekend we went the first time to this japanese style restaurant and saw the pictures there. And then we were completely astonished when we noticed that some of them were taken by us!

So, the owner of the restaurant or someone else has seen the pictures here on flickr, liked them, downloaded and printed them! It was really fascinating for us to see them, most of them the first time as large scale prints... Strange things could happen by chance :)

This was taken on the Rainbow bridge above the Tokyo bay. I was sitting in the back of the Yorikamome line and took some long exposure pictures :)
