This place was a rose garden once. It is still called so, but there are no roses no more. The froggy was our favorite place to sit and dream of some stories :)

Am in Hungary right now, but on a painfully slow line (but better than none), sending pages after pages of dog papers to the Vet in Kuwait to get the import permit (after rescanning them...)
Besides that there are boxes to unpack (which I had at my Mom's for over two years,...oups), the house to be cleaned (the car too, if I'm already at it), a suitcase to be packed and back on the road some time this week ;)

Einer dieser Plaetze and denen wir als Kinder sehr gerne waren.
Damals waren dort noch Rosen (das Teil heisst zwar immernoch Rosengarten, aber Rosen machen wohl zu viel Arbeit), der Frosch stand auf einem Podest...aber ansonsten ist es noch wie frueher.
Wir sassen dann immer auf dem Frosch und dachten uns Stories aus.

Bin zur Zeit in Ungarn, scanne zum zweiten Mal die Hundedokument und verschicke sie einzeln zu dem Veterinaersservice in Kuwait. Aber immerhin klappt es jetzt....
Dann werde ich noch Pakete auspacken, die ueber zwei Jahre bei Muttern standen (oups...), die Wohnung und das Auto putzen, Koffer packen und wieder nach D-Land duesen....oder so ;)

Das hat mich bei meiner Ankunft in Ungarn in unserem Garten begruesst. Mein Maenne haette bestimmt direkt den Rasenmaeher gezueckt, aber a) war ich zu faul und b) find ich's viel zu schoen.

Idee von Wolfgang, Ausfuehrung: muss noch geuebt werden ;)

Tomorrow morning I'll hit the road again, back to Germany, to get some Veterinarian papers from the Germans, so the Kuwaitis let me / us in the country.

The dogs and me reached Kuwait safely.
We are still chilling this weekend. Next week I will give you some details :)

So far, I like it here. It's not too warm yet and the surroundings are alright too.
It reminds me a little bit of Korea, just nicer ;)

Hallo Freunde!
Die Hunde und ich sind gut in Kuwait angekommen.
Dieses Wochenende ruhen wir uns aus. Naechste Woche werde ich Euch dann einige Details geben :)

Bis jetzt gefaellt es mir gut hier. Es ist noch nicht zu heiss und die Umgebung ist auch gut.
Ein klein wenig erinnert es mich an Korea, nur schoener ;)

We, the doggies and I, hubby had to work again :(, have been at the beach this morning.
The one right in front of our house is just a big trash dump. Sad.
But 10 minutes walking from here is a nicer one. We have walked around there a little bit only, but the doggies are pooped nonetheless. We have been there at 6 a.m., but there have been already a bunch of people and it started to get warm already. So tomorrow morning it will be 5.30.
Met two Indian girls. They have been down there for the first time that early in the morning too, cause they usually party all night ;)
They loved the dogs and were asking if I come there again. They also wanted to get me to come to the Hilton Fitnessclub (I guess that one girl works there?) and couldn't understand that I more likely will not get bored over here ;). Besides that, we have one in the house, including a pool and jaccuzies.
On our way back home I saw the first very real weird thing here. When I crossed the road a big jeep started coming towards me. When I reached the other side of the road I looked around and saw a kid, max 10 years, sitting behind the wheel. I saked the security guard at our house if he saw that. And he said yes, that's a kid from crazy Kuwaitis.
He got that one right!

Heute morgen waren wir, die Hundis und ich, Menne musste wieder arbeiten :(, am Strand.
Der vor unserer Haustuer ist leider nichts als eine grosse Schutthalde. Sehr traurig anzusehen.
Aber 10 Minuten Fussmarsch von hier gibt es einen schoeneren Strand. Dort sind wir dann einw enig rumgelaufen, aber die Hundis sind dennoch voellig platt. Wir waren um 6 Uhr morgens da, aber es war dennoch schon viel los und es wurde langsam warm. Morgen frueh werden wir also um halb 6 dort sein.
Wir haben auch zwei Maedels aus Indien kennen gelernt. Sie haben sich direkt in die zwei Hundis verliebt und gefragt, ob wir nochmal her kommen. Sie waren wohl zum ersten Mal so frueh morgens am Strand, da sie sonst die Nacht ueber durch feiern. Sie wollten mich auch direkt fuer den Hilton Hotel Fitnessclub anheuern (ich vermute, die eine arbeitet dort?) und konnten nicht verstehen, dass es nir hier wahrscheinlich gar nicht langweilig werden wird ;). Davon mal ab, haben wir einen Fitnessraum im Haus, inkl. Pool und Whirlpools.
Auf dem Heimweg habe ich dann das erste richtig seltsame Erlebnis gehabt. Als ich bei unserem Haus ueber die Strasse gegangen bin, kam vom Ende der Strasse ein Jeep angefahren. Am Haus angekommen, habe ich mich umgedreht und am Steuer einen max. 10 jaehrigen Jungen gesehen. Der Security Mensch hat es auch gesehen und meinte nur, dass das einer von den verrueckten Kuwaitis ist. Da musste ich ihm jedenfalls sehr recht geben!

That cable was adapted to my Mom's phone box and laid down on the floor. A so called Internet Hookup. Special made in Germany. Congratulations! And the best thing is, it's NOT for free.....AND doesn't work right.....

Das Kabel war an di Telefonbuchse meiner Mutter angeschlossen und einfach auf den Boden gelegt.
Ein so genannter Internetanschluss.
Spezialanfertigung in Deutschland! Glueckwunsch!
Und das Beste ist, er ist nicht einmal umsonst UND funktioniert nicht richtig bis gar nicht....

Not really a sunset though, but it looks like it ;) Try to catch two happy dogs running around...my camera is just too slow for that ;)

Today we tried the other direction but didn't find another beach (besides the private one at the Hilton, grmpf). So we had a quite long and dusty (and warm - 26 degr. C) walk alongside the Gulf Highway.....but nonetheless interesting and the dogs are tired, yeah :)

Nicht wirklich ein Sonnenuntergang, aber es sieht ja fast so aus ;)
Versuch mal zwei Hunde zu knipsen, die am Strand Spass haben, meine Kamera ist einfach zu langsam dafuer ;)

Heute haben wir versucht, in der anderen Richtung noch einen Strand zu finden, aber ausser dem privatstrand am Hilton gab es leider nichts in der Naehe. Schade.
Dafuer hatten wir einen netten, langen Spaziergang an der Golf Autobahn entlang, husthust, etwas staubig und warm (schlappe 26 Grad Celsius und schwuel), aber dennoch ganz nett und die Hunde sind muede ;)

Wherever I went in the last few days you see apartments. How many are they going to build? Whom do they expect? This part here is called Fahaheel and seems to be quite new. The part where we live in is still mainly under construction.
I don't know what the heck they are doing, but even new sidewalks and roads are torn apart and trashy. But they take care of the flowers and trees in the middle of the Gulf road.....

Btw., can anyone tell me what is wrong with the tag "Middle East"?
I have saved most of my tags, so I can copy/paste them, but "Middle East" always shows up in two words and I have to type it manually..... :S

Wohnungen, Wohnungen und nochmal Wohnungen.....

Ueberall wo ich in den letzten Tagen hin bin, wird gebaut oder ist gebaut worden. Wieviele bauen die denn noch? Wen erwarten die? Dieser Teil wird Fahaheel genannt und ist wohl recht neu. Der Teil, in dem wir leben, ist groesstenteils noch im Bau. Ich weiss nicht, was die machen, aber selbst neue Fussgaengerwege sind schon kaputt oder voller Muell. Aber hauptsache, sie halten Blumen und Baeume auf dem Mittelstreifen der Golfstrasse in Ordnung.... :S

But no Germans working there ;)

My first mild Duststorm. It feels hot like a Bio Sauna out there. Something around 40 degrees Celsius. Not too bad yet ;)
It's not blowing very hard, so masks are not absolutely necessary, but it leaves a weird taste in your mouth if you go without.

Mein erster leichter Sandstur,. Hier nennen sie es eigentlich Staubsturm, mh.
Es fuehlt sich an wie eine 40 Grad warme Bio Sauna. Masken sind noch nicht unbedingt notwendig, da der Wind nicht so stark blaest, aber man hat einen seltsamen Nachgeschmack im Mund.

Have been in Koblenz this day to get the papers for the dogs and do some sightseeing (pictures will follow one day ;)

Most of these workers either live in tents in front of the construction site or in the construction site itself. I've even seen cages with chicken in them.
These guys came from somewhere else with the bus, but there was a big tent with laundry in front of the construction and a big tank with water for these guys.
Btw., these workers are not Kuwaitis. They come from all over the place (India, Egypt, Philippines,...)

Die meissten dieser Arbeiter leben entweder in Zelten vor der Baustelle oder in der Baustelle selbst. Ich habe sogar einige Huehnerkaefige gesehen.
Diese Arbeiter kamen mit dem Bus von woanders, haben aber auch ein Zelt mit Waescheleine und einen grossen wassertank vor der Baustelle stehen.
Uebrigens, die Arbeiter sind keine Kuwaiter, die meissten kommen aus Indien, Aegypten, oder von den Philippinen.

Manche Leute gehen an den Strand, manche machen's auch im Supermarkt mit Radiogebeten als Begleitung, waehrend sie arbeiten.

Das hier ist eine Moschee in unserer Nachbarschaft und bald kenne ich die Gebetszeiten auswendig ;)
