Wherever I went in the last few days you see apartments. How many are they going to build? Whom do they expect? This part here is called Fahaheel and seems to be quite new. The part where we live in is still mainly under construction.
I don't know what the heck they are doing, but even new sidewalks and roads are torn apart and trashy. But they take care of the flowers and trees in the middle of the Gulf road.....

Btw., can anyone tell me what is wrong with the tag "Middle East"?
I have saved most of my tags, so I can copy/paste them, but "Middle East" always shows up in two words and I have to type it manually..... :S

Wohnungen, Wohnungen und nochmal Wohnungen.....

Ueberall wo ich in den letzten Tagen hin bin, wird gebaut oder ist gebaut worden. Wieviele bauen die denn noch? Wen erwarten die? Dieser Teil wird Fahaheel genannt und ist wohl recht neu. Der Teil, in dem wir leben, ist groesstenteils noch im Bau. Ich weiss nicht, was die machen, aber selbst neue Fussgaengerwege sind schon kaputt oder voller Muell. Aber hauptsache, sie halten Blumen und Baeume auf dem Mittelstreifen der Golfstrasse in Ordnung.... :S

Most of these workers either live in tents in front of the construction site or in the construction site itself. I've even seen cages with chicken in them.
These guys came from somewhere else with the bus, but there was a big tent with laundry in front of the construction and a big tank with water for these guys.
Btw., these workers are not Kuwaitis. They come from all over the place (India, Egypt, Philippines,...)

Die meissten dieser Arbeiter leben entweder in Zelten vor der Baustelle oder in der Baustelle selbst. Ich habe sogar einige Huehnerkaefige gesehen.
Diese Arbeiter kamen mit dem Bus von woanders, haben aber auch ein Zelt mit Waescheleine und einen grossen wassertank vor der Baustelle stehen.
Uebrigens, die Arbeiter sind keine Kuwaiter, die meissten kommen aus Indien, Aegypten, oder von den Philippinen.

Some people go to the beach, some do it in the Supermarket, with radio prayers, while working.
Fine with me :)

This is a mosque in our neighborhood. I almost know the prayer times by now ;)

Manche Leute gehen an den Strand, manche machen's auch im Supermarkt mit Radiogebeten als Begleitung, waehrend sie arbeiten.

Das hier ist eine Moschee in unserer Nachbarschaft und bald kenne ich die Gebetszeiten auswendig ;)

My bathroom in that place and the room with the washing machine.
Looks like crap, but I loved the open, big shower. No hitting your elbows at the cabin wall or sticky curtains around you :)
You could walk from the bedroom right through there into the Computer room.

I told you about Koreans and their way of building stuff.
You need another room?
No problem. Let's build one at the end of the house or put a cabin on top of the house ;)

Our yard. I loved it.
I loved the house too.
No nosy, stressful landlords living close by. Sunny, but not too hot. And I had my own plants. I miss those too. I even had some chilly and tomato plants :) Oh, maybe this summer I can have some again :)

Hubbys bathroom.
They had to built the sink there. It didn't have one before. They just used a hose like in old days. A big plastic bowl and a hose. They squad on the floor and wash themselves like that, sometimes they do it with a group of women.

The bathtub in here was pretty cool too. Imagine a bathtub that's surrounded by three walls. Two at long ends and one at the small. Now try to imagine me cleaning that thing. Yeah. Got it? ;) Koreans are SMART :)!

In my experience in the rural little town we lived in, the people either were very clean or they didn't bother to pick up any trash.
They also used all kinds of stuff that other people threw away for trash. I saw a lot of interesting fences for example.

I missed the opportunity here with a before and after shot.
This place was abandoned and desolated for years and I always thought, I can snap it one day anyways.
But see, somebody bought it and made nice appartements for vacationers out of it.
I always knew, that place was gorgeous :)

Ich habe die Gelegenheit verpasst, dieses Haus vorher / nachher zu fotografieren.
Es stand jahrelang verlassen und leer und nun hat's einer gekauft und dieses Schmuckstueck daraus gemacht. Es sind Appartements fuer die Feriengaeste hier.
Ich wusste immer, dass dies ein Goldstueck ist :)
