Went hiking on Sunday morning in a place called Búrfellsgjá. It's a walk along a wide lava channel that was made by a lava flow from the cinder cone Búrfell. This place is a geologists dream ;o

This is the end of the lava channel, looking towards the cinder cone :o)

UPDATE: Thanks to Hafdís for providing me with the right names of things, i.e. Búfell is a cinder cone and Búrfellsgjá is a lava channel. The lava is 8000 years old!

I recommend looking at the original for full impact :o)

Taken on our last whole day in Crete. That day we walked to Hora Sfakion where we stayed our last night, they have this beautiful little beach... and of course we took the time that day to go to the beach and soak up some sun and have fun with the waves ;o)

Samaria gorge

Samaria gorge, a 16 km. long hike through a beautiful gorge, somtimes green and foresty, sometimes barren and gravelly :o)

We hiked there on a VERY hot day... and the heat down in this narrow part of the gorge was incredible!

The trail along the coast was really high and steep in some places (many places actually). Thankfully I am not afraid of hights... I have been climbing the cliffs around my hometown since I was a kid ;o)

Me and two other girls went on an adventure hike on our own one day... we came upon this man cutting his friend's hair behind a house in a very small village. I later learned that this is the barber of Lykos ;o)

He asked if we wanted to have a haircut... we politely declined and asked for a picture of them instead! :D

The trail was sometimes hewed into the rock ;o) And it was a straight drop to the sea... far below!

Sweet Water Beach

Sweet Water Beach is a beautiful and remote spot, only accessible by hiking or by boat... but the taverna there has the best cappuccino ever... at least I thought so at the time ;o)

Just over a year ago I was hiking in Mallorca... after a very humid and warm day with rain showers, we came to this little beach below Deia... so we took a quick dip :o)

Today I went hiking on Mt. Esja with my some of my coworkers... the company we work for decided to donate 2000 kr. to the Icelandic Cancer Society for each person that hiked up the mountain.

The weather was rather bad... stormy and raining, but the hike did me good (as it always does)... I didn't have my camera with me so this is shot on my mobile phone... hence the bad quality... well the bad quality of the photo, not the bad quality of my face... that comes naturally... LOL

We collected over one and a half million kr. today! :o) I've never seen so many people on those trails!

I know the photo is not photographically perfect, the sky is overexposed etc... but I wanted to post it for the purpose of "show and tell" ;o)

This is the start of our first hiking day... we had to cross a glacial river. The guide (about 2 meters tall) said it wasn't too deep, just above the knees... these women in the photo are over 170 cm tall and the waters get deeper... so you can imagine me there with my 157 cm... ;o) Oh! and on the way back we had to cross it again of course, and then it was deeper because of the rain and the glacial melting of the day! (the water went all the way up to my waist! brrrrrrrr.....)

Don't you just love the "beautiful" colour of the glacial waters!
