May I tempt you with some homemade candy? :o)

Here in Iceland, most people make cookies and chocolates to enjoy on the Advent and over Christmas.

While living in Denmark me and my friend started making candy (bolsjer, bonbons) together in December and have kept that tradition since we've both moved back home to Iceland. So yesterday evening we came together for our annual Christmas candy making :o)

It may not be the most beautiful candy, but it is delicious... and it is always so much fun to make! :o)

Since I am not very much online these days, I'd like to take the opportunity and wish you all
peaceful and happy holidays surrounded by friends and family :o)

It was the perfect night, the perfect weather, the perfect company... and an imperfect and broken lens that was always out of focus on the left side.

For that reason I never posted these photos, they are imperfect photographically... but there is something I really like about them... maybe the nothingness... or the memories :o)

Anyway, since we've had no proper snow this winter, I decided to post my imperfections from February last... because of what I find to be the perfect mood :o)

The house at the end of the Universe

Digging into the archives I found photos from a phototrip I took with friends last May.

This is an abandoned house at the end of the Universe... The mood of the weather, overcast and heavy, fit this place perfectly... the house standing alone under dominant mountains... very strange atmosphere.

I wanted to try some HDR and this is the outcome... there are so many things to tweak and turn and twist... one can very easily go overboard with HDR! But maybe I was a bit too careful...

A very odd combination, I know.

We had a yearly get-together, some girls from work, and for the occasion we rented a place called Hamborgarabúllan (The Hamburger Joint).

For food we had: Everything you could eat from the menu... and some bubbly to go with it ;o) ... so I had a cheeseburger, fries and bubbly!
One of the most special parties I've been too! :D

Haven't been much online lately... mainly because I seem to have lost my photo mojo*... so now I'm looking for it in every nook and cranny ;o) ... and as you can see - Kisi couldn't care less! :D

*Since I only know the word "mojo" from Austin Powers I decided to google it and see what turned up. This is what wikipedia says:

"Mojo refers to a magical charm bag used in hoodoo. In modern usage it may also metaphorically refer to possessing a "magic touch" of creativity or charm."

Afternoon at the Blue Lagoon

Drove by the Blue Lagoon this afternoon. The autumn sun was low and created sharp shadows on the lava.

Went on the spur of the moment with a very good friend to see the famous and much photographed rock of Hvítserkur. It was an adventurous journey... and at the end of it the beast awaited patiently... :o)

Ghost ship

In the sand, not far from the church, this old ship wreck rests. It might be difficult to realize the size of it but it's quite big... the steering blade (too bad it can not be seen on this photo) is taller/higher than I am... quite a lot :o)

Flatey church was decorated on the inside by an Icelandic artist named Baltasar. He used the faces of the locals in his very special paintings... f.ex. Jesus is wearing jeans and an Icelandic sweater and has the face of his son who is an actor :o)

I visited the island of Flatey on Breiðafjörður for a weekend recently. It was like stepping a few (or many) decades back in time.

The island is often used as a location for movies because of it's old time charm :o)
