This is a picture of Lal Baba who is a Saivite (follower of Shiva) sādhu.
He was born in the Indian state of Bihar but he stays most of the time in Varanasi (Benaras).
I didn’t see him since a few months, no one could tell me where he was whenever I was asking at the ghats so I was happy to see him again a few days ago as I was walking with my friend Rajesh along the Ganges.
People call him Lal Baba because he mostly wears garments in red shades, in Hindi “lal” means red.
His huge turban keeps a few meters of dreadlocks and gives him an impressive presence.
Sometimes people think that he can’t see much because of cataract but in fact his eyes have an amazing deep blue colour.
I told him that Benaras is not the same without him and he laughed.

I went to Jökulsárlón to measure the depth of the river, from the lagoon to the shore. The lagoon was filled with icebergs and the smaller ice had washed on the river banks. We had some trouble getting our boat to the river, but finally we made it. I have put some pictures in notes to show how it went :o)

Die Halbinsel Zudar liegt im südlichsten Teil der Insel Rügen und dieser Findling wiederum liegt im östlichten Teil dieser Halbinsel im Flachküstenbereich des Gelben Ufer. Er ist nur über Feldwege von der Ortschaft Grabow kommend zu erreichen. Dieses Gebiet gehört zu den abgelegenen und ruhigen Ecken Rügens. Das Großgeschiebe liegt unmittelbar am Ufer und ist der südlichst gelegene Findling der Insel. Sein Ursprung ist die Region Småland in Schweden und er gehört zur Gruppe der Växjö - Granite. Der graue bis hellblaue Quarzstein ist sehr zerklüftet und an der Oberseite befinden sich drei Bohrlöcher.

Ein Findling, auch Erratischer Block oder Erratiker genannt, ist ein heute meist einzeln liegender sehr großer Stein, der durch Gletscher während der Eiszeiten in seine heutige Lage verdriftet (transportiert und abgelegt) wurde. Die Grenze zwischen Findlingen und den kleineren Geschieben zieht man bei einem Volumen von einem Kubikmeter.
