En la esquina de una calle del Barrio de San Marco junto a la iglesia de San Salvatore, encontramos este ave que custodia un farol formado por tres paraguas, un ejemplo del modernismo en una ciudad en la que el estilo predominante no es ese precisamente.

Fue construida en 1577, por Palladio, para celebrar el final de la peste en 1576 que diezmó un tercio de la población de la ciudad. De aquella celebración aun se preserva la Fiesta del Redentore el tercer fin de semana de Julio. El Dux cruzaba en un puente hecho de góndolas desde Venecia a la Giudecca para visitar la iglesia, actualmente lo hacen los fieles para pagar las promesas hechas al Redentor.

La iglesia está construida según los cánones romanos, es una composición armónica y proporcionada. El interior es clásico y sobrio.Dentro pinturas de El Veronés y Alvise Vivarini decoran el ábside y la sacristía.

It was constructed in 1577, by Palladio, to celebrate the end of the plague in 1576 that killed a third of the population of the city. Remembering that the third weekend of Julio is even preserved the Celebration of the Redentore. The Dux used to cross in a bridge made of gondolas from Venice to Giudecca to visit the church, actually faithfuls make it to pay the promises done to the Redentor.The church is constructed according to the Roman canons,it has an harmonic and provided composition. The interior is classic and sober. Inside there are paintings of the Veronés and Alvise Vivarini decorating the apse and sacristía.

Desde el Puente de los Suspiros,en realidad un corredor que comunica el Palacio Ducal con las mazmorras, esta seria la última vista de Venecia que verían los condenados antes de entrar en prision.
