Often depicted on Stupas, this symbol represents the all seeing eyes of Buddha. The small dot depicted between the eyes represents the third eye, a symbol of spiritual awakening. The curious squiggle between the eyes is the Sanscrit numeral one, and symbolizes the unity of all things.

Every time I visited Kathmandu my first target was the holy Stupa Bodnath. In all my other sets posted in Ipernity and Flickr I gave detailed descriptions about this holy center which is really important to visit.
Here the stupa in beautiful golden sun light.

Bodnath (also called Boudhanath) is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the area of Kathmandu, Nepal. The Buddhist stupa of Bodnath dominates the skyline. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world.

The influx of large populations of Tibetan refugees from China has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around the Bodnath. This Gompa was built by the father of our Mustang Treck Organisatior Rajendra Thakuri in honor to the great King of Mustang.
