I dropped out of blogging a year ago or so, this place will perhaps help ignite my interest once again. I will probably be doing a few memes and present you with my favourite bookmarks, but hopefully with a bit of my personality shining through. I don't rant much, and most of what I write is tongue-in-cheek. Consider yourself advised.

Birgit has added a post:

I entered 2008 with an ambition of taking at least one photo every single day, but have since modified that goal significantly. The red lamps started blinking when the daily photo became a chore more than a creative challenge, and when I put together a collage of my January entries it took me one single glance to cancel the whole thing. Not even half of the photos were anything remotely close to interesting, too many of them weren't decent even from a pure technical point of view. Consequently, I've quit all those 365/366 projects I'd joined, and I've actually been taking more photos since..! (I've just not uploaded them all.) It's good to feel the inspiration and urge to use the camera once again.

How do you normally feel about daily challenges like that - do they make your creative juices flow or are you put off from the whole "photography thing" by them?

Other than that: I've just ordered a modified Holga from holgamods, and I got a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 D for my birthday this week. Yippee!

Birgit has added a post:

I still have a hard time getting into bed at a reasonable time, it's 1.35am as I write this. Last night, I had 3.5 hours of sleep - a really clever trick to pull the night before the first day of work after the holidays. I knew we'd have a slow day, so no big harm done - except crashing on the couch for two hours in the afternoon is not something you'll recommend to anyone with kids. Not that mine would turn their surroundings into a havoc or anything, but it's always nice to be able to actually talk to your mother, if you know what I mean.. :/ 0 points.

I did not get up at the time I had set my clock, but since the kids stayed at home with their dad today I didn't have to get them dressed, make them sandwiches etc, and so there was no stress. 1 point. Still: I aim to be an early riser, making us all (a nice) breakfast before we head off for a long day away from home, so lots of room for improvement there.

I am taking part in the Project 365 over at flickr - I managed to get today's entry done half an hour before midnight.. 1 point.

I originally wanted to get a particular Moleskine for my first year of living by the GTD philosophy, but I think I've decided to go with my worn but loved Filofax in stead. I did not get into town when at work today to purchase that Moleskine (I looked for another one during the holidays and knew from that that they didn't have it - would've had to order it) - but I am going during tomorrow to get some new Filofax sheets. The weather is really nasty this week, freezing wind and hail/undercooled rain, which doesn't make it easier to leave the relatively warm office during lunch break.. Update tomorrow on how that went!

I have three freelance/personal commissions waiting since before Christmas to get finished, I got one of them done tonight. Not really sure if I deserve it, but ok: 1 point.

There are several other aspects of the GTD "thing" which I will add with time btw, like getting into a workout routine, going for a walk every day, take my kids on field trips more often etc, but I've wisely decided not to take it all on from day one.

Besides the GTD resolution, I also added "wearing lipstick every day". I went with lipgloss today, tomorrow I'll remember to freshen up on it more frequently! ;) 10 points. Hehe. Ok, not really pointworthy.
