There's a danger to telling one's life on the web, I've been advised.

It hasn't gone unthought of.

The potential of one's story being claimed by someone else comes to mind.

It's not been a fairy tale so far.

I'd be curious to see someone else's conclusion.

Walk a mile in my shoes and tell me how it turns out.

I was at the gym yesterday feeling angry and sad and all kinds of pissed off. it pumped the workout but i wasn't in a good place. i was thinking about the guy, handsome one who pranced around behind my machine for half an hour and interrupted me when i broke into full stride as the clock on the machine hit 30 min last week.

i was bothered by other things but was choosing to focus my energy on how much he'd annoyed me. i was shocked by his inconsiderate nature. he had to know i wouldn't be able to keep up that pace for very long. i thought he'd just been working out behind me that whole half hour...

in-grained training made me defer with a smile to him. that made me pissed at myself. his looks dissipated before my eyes tho...all i could think was- handsome is as handsome does. i was feeling extra bitchy so i imagined a beautiful wife, impossible to satisfy, for him.

after i got off that machine i started my nautilus routine. my father's suicide has been on my mind lately which causes me to remember also my high school boyfriend who shot himself down by the Connecticut River. Shotgun blast to the chest. I can't imagine...

we hadn't been in touch except just shortly before he died. my mother and i saw him in Pulaski Park and he apologized for having been confrontational with my dad when we dated. we told him not to worry. he was a wild child, motorcycle guy with an old Comet with fins. a foster child with one bike on the road and one in parts in a peach basket.

i pressed 150 on the leg machine thinking about all that.

i still felt pretty much like crap later. went home to eat a turkey burger. Dr Phil for company. i like pop psychology. the day's show was on suicide. a reminder that suicide is an irrational act that can't be made rational. comforting except that i was also reminded suicidal thoughts are fleeting and if they pass the person can survive. yeah, so, comforted and conflicted.

Played Yoville and hung out with virtual friends. rained all day.

Got to be evening and I decided to go for a drive. That's when I saw the biggest, fattest rainbow I've ever seen. It started next to Pulaski Park and crossed the Connecticut River to Hadley with a Maxfield Parrish sky for backdrop.

Travelling light , I'd left my cam at home.

That's something I don't usually do.

You'll have to believe me about the rainbow. it was magical.

I believe everything will be alright.

The Three Of Me

You've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with the 3's of YOU. At the end, choose people to be tagged. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you - but not in a creepy stalker kind of way.

Tag whomever, and me, so I can see your answers too.

Three names I go by:

1.josie soho

2.Virtual Lover

3.Eve Not adam

Three Jobs I have had in my life:

1.Salad girl

2.Nanny

3.Bartender

Three Places I have lived:

1.Massachusetts

2.Maine

3.Massachusetts

Three Favorite drinks:

1.Coca Cola

2.Mojitos

3.Beer

Three TV Shows that I watch (online if you don't have TV):

1.Antiques Roadshow

2.Lehrer News Hour

3.Cheaters

Three places I have been:

1.Berlin

2.Aspen

3.Palm Beach

People that text me regularly:

1.Family

2.A cute boy

3.Anyone?

Three of my favorite foods:

1.Lobster

2.Butter

3.Fruit

Wearing criss cross lashes sprinkled with fairy dust to work makes the most unusual things happen. First I sold a pink faced man in a pink Polo shirt a bottle of Ikon cologne. I had made a bet with myself that I'd sell one that evening tho I hadn't yet sold any. I'd also bet myself that I'd date the man I sold it too. That idea went out the window when he sprayed it on himself and told me he'd have to see how his wife liked it.

Well, actually he was little too pink for me and it was quite obvious he was flirting. Too obvious in fact.

They bought a pink organic bunny for their newly born grandchild as well as the cologne and went merrily on their way. The wife was delighted with her husband's new aroma. I wondered if they'd think about me later. (We'd had a long conversation about epidurals and the fact that someone had stolen their credit card and taken a trip to Germany with it. Buying $300 worth of jewelry while there.)

Next a grandmotherly woman who looked as if she ought to say bibbity bobbity boo came in. She shouted out- "Hello sweetheart!" to me. I took a deep breath and decided it was my mother incarnate come to visit.

She took some steps closer and said, "You're quite pretty you know!"

I responded my thanks and hoped for a subject change. It was a kind gesture. I'd spent an hour on my makeup.

She went on to tell me she had a very nice priest. ( His diocese was at the church in my neighborhood my aunt attended when she was here during my mother's illness.) I told her I wasn't Catholic but that I'd like a nice priest to confide in from time to time. She then told me she was a good Catholic so she attended Mass every day but she also needed someone else to talk to because her husband was no good for conversation. Then she told me she'd met a nice minister at her church in her hometown who was great and the congregation was lovely...

A man who looked like my old rock and roll boyfriend came in too- looking like a comic sketch of himself. Life is very unusual.

At the end of the month we're having a sale with a pj promotion. We'll each get a pair of pjs if we'll wear them to work during the sale days. I'm hoping to obtain the acid green, sleeveless pjs with the flame colored roses for my attire. They'll go great with my dragonfly sandals. I'm not sure I'll wear the lashes. I do wonder what stories I'll hear then.

You might win bets with yourself but that doesn't mean the man will resemble the one on the poster.

Josie Soho® has added a post:

Josie Soho was born in Worcester before she was josie soho. Her mother was born in Worcester and lived on Belmont Street which is the street josie soho took to get to the Worcester Art Musuem today.

Josie has a ton of memories of the city though she actually lived in Boylston where her father grew up.

Driving down Belmont she passed the Swedish Lutheran church her mother had grown up worshipping in. A church they'd meant to re- visit one day.

Past the church to the museum where josie's mother spent many happy hours as a child.

Just behind is the Lutheran church where Josie Soho's parents married. She noted it was built in 1950. Just five years before her parent's wedding. She took some pictures of it but she can't show you right now.

Leaving town she saw the train station that was run down and dirty when she was a child. She'd always marvelled at it's architecture. It's roof tops are sparkling now.

Going home through this way brought memories of her father and the times they spent in that run down area looking for treasures in the second hand shops. Josie holding the newspaper and directing her father to the sales listed in the Worcester Telegram while he drove.

Memories juxtaposed on either side of a three hour class on storing digital files. One more convergence of the actual and the virtual.

Josie Soho® has added a post:

I went bike shopping with my daughter yesterday. We both want one. Went to a cool co- operative shop over the bridge. There were so many great choices. It was like a dream. From cream puff vintage to sculptural state of the art. Prices were amazingly reasonable I thought.

We were a bit boggled as a young man came out from the work area behind the counter to help. So many good choices. As he approached I was thinking how much he reminded me of J.c. and Rose Diamond received a text. At first I was annoyed her phone was interrupting our time together. Then I realized it gave me time to admire this young man, who's tee shirt was greasy from the waist to just below his chest. There wasn't a spot left uncovered. I marveled at that and the v that surely lay under that shirt and strong shoulders. Simultaneously, I was hoping none of this thought process was apparent during this mother moment.

After Rose D. looked at her phone and brought her attention back to Mr Young Man, he ushered her over to a bike that would have been mine when I was her age. It was a beauty. Turquoise, college girl three speed. I wanted it. She didn't like the color. I was looking at how short young boy's hair was too. Which led back to his shoulders and the thought that I could probably bounce quarters off them. I proclaimed the bike sweeet and we moved on.

He showed us so many bikes it was a bit dizzying. He showed me one he thought I might like for road riding but he knew would be too big. A beast he said. In my enthusiasm I told him I measured at 24 inches for a cross frame. I meant 21 but I said 24. He looked at me as if i were on crack. Correcting myself, I said, "You're right, I'm trippin'."

I forgot about Rose Diamond standing there. Off behind my right shoulder she probably visibly cringed. She hates when I talk like that...but he reminded me of my homeboy and he and I always talk like that.

Mr Man showed us one more bike for Rose Diamond next. It was painted her high school's colors. Navy blue with yellow fenders. More of a mountain bike. I knew she wanted a collegiate three speed.

"If you don't hate that one it would be good for you on the hills, " I made the mistake of saying.

"I don't hate it." she said.

I could see her inner tension rising. A mother sees these things. I told the bike boy we needed time to think and thanked him. Asked his name. Caleb. Told him he'd probably see us a couple more times.

We went outside to look a bit more. Rose Diamond wasn't calming down . When I asked what was wrong she'd only say she was annoyed.

I don't think she saw me and that handsome, more age appropriate, man who was driving the black Lexus SUV exchanging glances.

Might have been something I said but maybe it was the text.

I think I'll go back by myself next time.

Now I've a hankering to see Louisa May Alcott's in Concord.

It's all an attempt to put myself in another place and time. I live too much in my own head. My life's obligations keep me more tethered than I'd like. In an attempt to expand my world by looking outward instead of inward, I make myself crave the past even more.

So much in the news is gloomy these days. Meanwhile it is all reported in a breezy, blog style. Everything has become entertainment to the media it seems.

To me it feels as if we're all going to go down Roman style when we let one of the most polluted countries in the world become the major food source for the planet. That is if someone doesn't pull the wrong trigger first. The list goes on...

Josie Soho® has added a post:

Bebe told me I was selling myself short when I responded in a meme that my best trait was using my smile to make people happy.

That very same day while I was at work a beautiful bi- racial girl of about eight was busily looking at lip glosses that were not appropriate for a girl her age.

"Helllooo there," I said to her.

Her grandfather rushed to her side from across the room to assure me she was alright and being watched.

I assured him she was fine. And that the glosses she was looking at had a colorful tint.

We moved on to ringing up her small purchase of bath beads and I asked her if she'd like a bag, which she declined.

Her grandmother spoke right up and told her she must always have a receipt and a bag. That she musn't ever, ever leave a store without one.

In an attempt to smooth the moment over I explained to her grandmother that many people were now using their own bags and rejecting paper ones.

She looked me firmly in the eye and said, "My dear, you simply don't understand what I mean. Where I've come from one must always take a receipt and a bag. One musn't ever leave a store without one."

I responded with a smile, "I have bi- racial children, so yes, I understand completely what you are saying. It's terrible we have to think in this way, even in this day and age."

Her husband looked at me and said, "You have a very nice smile."

Then we all smiled.

While I feel conflicted about leaving my work in a group after quitting- I should also add that I welcome invitations to submit my work without becoming a member. If and when an alphabetized group list is better worked out I may consider belonging to more groups.

Upon further reflection I realized it wasn't porn I was upset about- it was the low class and tastelessness of the work. The lack of sense and sensibility

displayed. People trying to portray things in a way they can't carry off.

For instance, today I came across some ridiculous shots of naked women frolicking in the gym. Honestly, they look as if the night janitor brought some girls in to pose during his shift. There is a way that such photos could have been done in great taste- but they weren't. The comments received were commensurate with the quality of the work.

On another site we see women pretending to be lesbians. I say pretending because I know something about being a woman and having emotions. It's evident when feelings aren't present.

To sum up I'd like to say- I'm offended by people who's work (and the ensuing comments) which, make it seem- that sex and intelligence don't go hand in hand.

We couldn't ask for a better community. In the week or so since our last email, the outpour of support has exceeded our wildest expectations. Your efforts, such as starting savejpg.com, writing blog posts, commenting on Twitter and Flickr, and generally making your voices heard, have provided exciting new opportunities for us.

We're thrilled to say that because of you, we have multiple credible buyers interested in giving JPG a home. We will be keeping the site up after all, and hope to have a final update in the next week or so on who the acquirer will be. Thank you for making all of this possible.

Laura Brunow Miner

I'm very happy to hear this news. A loss to the community is a loss to us all.
