Desmond C has added a post:

His name is John Lambert aka Chequerboard. He supported Jóhann Jóhannsson in Dublin on July 18th as part of that weekend's annual Analog Music Festival. He quietly came out & sat down without any fanfare or introductions & just started weaving these wonderful melodies with his acoustic guitar & computer, creating his own subtle looping backing tracks live in real time, something new & captivating to me for one. The sublime soundscapes he created were an unexpected but very welcome aural pleasure on the night. I only wish I'd recorded all four songs he performed, but I'm glad I at least captured this one...enjoy.

Recorded at the chq building on Custom House Quay, Dublin.

Unbelievable as soon as seen

Hit the mark despite not aiming for it

Is'nt that how things have always been?"

-Bertolt Brecht

It has literally happened to me just four times so far. Four moments where everything just came together - the lighting, the moment, the composition & the timing...usually by chance, & that quote by Brecht sums that feeling up perfectly for me. Just thought I'd share it here...

Another quote that I think of much more often when I'm trying to capture that special, remarkable, even perfect image with my camera is this one by my compatriot Sam Beckett...

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

And I belive he is so right, I learn more from the photos that don't work out, probably much more than I learn from the rare ones that leave me smugly satisfied or humbly gratified...

Feedback please!

Joe Strahlen is my link to ipernity. I was a fan of his on flickr, where he is known as flickrjob. Now I've followed his example & signed up here. Looks very interesting. A bit posher than flickr, a bit more mature, & for the more discerning image admirer maybe. Well, these are my first impressions. I like the way you can see who is online here, unlike flickr...I've decide to only upload my personal favorites from my flickr site to ipernity. Less is more here, that's the impression I get already. Which is nice...Can I end with a quote I like? One that just about sums up my feelings towards capturing that special image through a camera lens, our collective holy grail...

Unexpected til we came & saw it
