Although flickr still is gonna remain my photo-home for now.

I realized very recently that it's pretty much a farce from flickr that one will not be able to see more than the last 200 photos, when the pro membership expires. They really expect you to pay each year for the rest of your (flickr-) life! Ok, it's a tactic to make money, but a very stupid tactic... not stupid in the sense of making money, but in the sense of respecting others......

It's funny, in the last months I almost didn't have a single week that I not found a photostream of guys showing off their new 400D. I just wonder, because most of these guys just get it as addition to their other DSLR(s), so no wonder, the quality of their images, bad or good, doesn't change at all. I guess it just must be cool to have one.

As for me, I wanted to have one as well for quite a while (just can't afford) and am still shooting on film - so for me it would change a lot as most of you can imagine (developing - money for the film and developing, you need to wait; scanning - time, between 2 and 3 hours for two films; etc.). I don't want to speak about the other advantages of especially a 400D for me now, slowly actually I start to wonder if in the end (when I finally can afford) I'm really gonna buy one... but as I just heard, there will be a new version, a 450D soon, so maybe the 400D might get cheaper... then of course I try to take that chance.....

I've been thinking about different things lately... myself and other stuff. Especially if you know how it's brewing in the two largest and most powerful countries in the world you might start to worry. The good news is that there should be a bit of a positive change in one of them. And there surely will be a big relief from all sides, when Bush has got to resign from office (if he not quickly changes the rules for the eight year period for the US Presidents - and he had done similar stuff already for his favor). On the other hand, Bush also just must have been a marionette in a much larger something. But it still will be on the new President of the US to contain such powers. On the other side, there's China with its communist regime. You can get an idea about what's been going on there for example in the China/Tibet-Group on flickr: www.flickr.com/groups/freechina-freetibet (especially the latest two threads). If then you get a comment like one from the former minister of defence of China, Chi Haotian, in mind, who in 2005 said "Our economical evolution exclusively serves the preparation of war." (www.flickr.com/groups/freechina-freetibet/discuss/72157602145288772), then you've got to worry again. Well, at least in both countries there's been growing a common consciousness and people can view the other side of the coin too (it only might get dangerous if they listen to one single controversial voice that stands for 'freedom of speech', like it currently seems to happen in the US). And it's still very worrying if you picture a possible result of all the facts put together in the thread '8 things you have to know about China' (www.flickr.com/groups/freechina-freetibet/discuss/72157603648584732).

Well, for me, as I'm in Germany, I can feel quite save for now and I surely don't want to stoke fears. Just awareness is the most important thing to do to prevent worse things that already happened or that are still going on (even if there are maybe just two or three people that get to read this here completely). So I still believe in a positive change concerning many things... finally, in a personal way, I want to hearten the way of everybody's thoughts and decisions. Our inner reactions on something should follow the thinking with the minds and then thinking with the hearts. Many people let actions follow, without regarding that last point, for different reasons...

Wow, just today I found to 'Camino' and am blown away!!!! This is what I call surfing now... in comparison, before I always felt like sailing on a rowing boat or even worse.

I was using Firefox for a long time, but lately and for a while already I felt like it got slower and slower, especially when "surfing" through my main photo-page. Finally it didn't even work at all anymore on my mac, so I needed to find a solution. 'Safari' seemed ok for a while, but very fast I noticed it's even slower than 'Firefox' and has many more disadvantages. Well, with 'Camino' waiting for a page to load for seconds seems like something forgotten...

Looking for new great jazz-records (what are your favorites? - have a look at mine)

I have a quite good range of great jazz-stuff (classics and newer stuff), but didn't buy a lot in the last about two years. Also before that time I regularly read a jazz-journal, so that it was not too difficult to find some great new publications (or older ones that not have been so popular).

As for now I only can afford 1 or 2 CDs a month and I'd like to find something that's special, deep and captures one. Also in the past I bought a lot of CDs that just were average and not very interesting... even if mostly the musicians have had a good reputation, or even better.

If you have favorite CDs (besides the classics) would be great if you tell me.

Just because I already used almost 60% of the monthly capacity (on 07/06!) I try to find out who or how many of you from my contacts are interested in listening to my music.

So what would you like to find and listen to next here?

70s soul - ballads or more groovy or even funky (an example for a ballad: "Sack full of dreams" or the link you find there to "What's going on" as groovy track)
funk/jazz - in the style of "El Ron" (I have quite a few great music like this)
soul/funk - energetic and modern soul-stuff like "Love Invincible", "Get it On" or "Ghosts" or ballads
electronica - check out my own music and you will notice that I like this kind of music too :)
jazz - from the 60s until present - I also have quite a few great jazz-records from the last two decades that I wouldn't mind to recommend ;) check this great recording: "Mindif" (which is a mixture of classical and jazz though) - of course I also have cool stuff of musicians that just started in the last two or three decades, but also from the jazz-legends who found their way back to the great audiences with great recordings (please don't count how often I use the word 'great' here!;)
vocal-jazz - there also can be quite a diversity within this style, as you can find in my jazz-vocalists album
blues/rythm'n'blues - if you like, I have great music of that too
classical/soundtrack - I surely will post some from these as well
pop/rock - or maybe some sweet or rocking tunes from that style? like for example from Tori Amos, Ben Harper, Ani DiFranco, Lenny Kravitz, Keziah Jones, Peter Gabriel.....
that should be enough for now?!

Anyway, sooner or later I'll post anything I feel like, but for now you could give me a hint what you as my contacts would like to listen to (because I can post max. one song a day until the rest of this month now)...

Of course it's not bad if nobody of you listens, in first point I'm doing this to be able to share my music with friends and to be able to also show the music to my flickr-friends when I post lyrics to a pic of mine on flickr or I just want to show a song that matches with the image, like I did for my "here's that rainy day".

How to make it easier dealing with the music here

The music you find and will find here is in first point music that needs to be discovered, so if you're looking for something interesting and different, I'd say you're right here. :) You will find many pearls from my CD-collection and from music-history.

Tips for dealing with this page and the music I upload (not only for non-ipernity user):

choose and click an album you find interesting (in all my music you just find all the tracks I have collected here)
then choose the track either by:

clicking on the song (which plays it directly), or
going to to the docs-page, where you have the stream just like in flickr or
clicking 'more info' on the right-hand side of the track (or clicking the pointer → beneath the song on the main-page)

- ... this is how you come to the main-page of the track and there you can find more information about it, such as lyrics or CD-title - plus you can move within the track, which is useful if you just want to listen quickly through it (and anyway many of my favorite songs need a while to start... so they mostly have something like an intro)

- In some cases, for example concerning some of the jazz- or jazz-fusion tracks, it might be best to click 'more info' before (or at least during) listening, in order to be ready for what might come (also concerning a longer intro - if written there). ;)

a tip for mac-user: I noticed that the player is not visible when visiting a doc - (it's strange that that happens on macs, but) it's not a big problem if you once have figured out how to deal with it:

when you have chosen a doc, all you have to do here on ipernity is slowly scroll down, so that on the upper left-hand side the player should appear above the description - if it didn't work, try again more slowly =)

if you want to listen to music on myspace, you also just need to move slowly over the player (that is on the right-hand side) and then the play-button should appear

If you have ideas or wishes for music that is similar to the stuff I have here, feel free to tell me!

(I just converted more some of my favorite CDs to 4 GB of mp3 (that's 60 hours of music!;), and I still have many more to come - as already mentioned, in first point I want to stick to songs that didn't have commercial success [which doesn't mean I won't post music from artists that didn't have success already;)], even if I partly also like such music, it just can be found elsewhere in the net.)

I always thought while listening to some of my favorite songs 'what a pity that I hardly can share it with anybody right now'. Really awesome that I can post some of them here from now on!

So, be sure in the next weeks I'll be continuing to upload some partly very diverse music (in soul, jazz, ballads, fusion and much more) here! At least those that are difficult or impossible to find elsewhere in the net.

But now I need to calm down uploading, otherwise I might not be able to upload anymore soon, because I used all the capacity of one month already in the first days.
