[en] Welcome to unofficial ideas group. Our goal is to provide a place to talk about things we'd like to see make their way into Ipernity. There include features you've noticed on other photo sharing sites as well as functionality you'd wish would make it's way here. Creative thinking is more than welcome, we're not out to create another Flickr clone - let's see what you can come up with. Respect is important here, do not flame another person's ideas but provide a strong and non-inflammatory counter argument if you disagree. Trolls will be booted back under the bridge :-) Most of all enjoy yourself. Please we need help with translations; anyone who is currently able to help provide this useful function should apply. We are trying to make this group as cross-cultural and multi-language as possible, we'd ask that when you post to please write in your native language and include if possible one other language in the posting. The language administrators can be approached and we're only too happy to help get your point across. Current translators and language support: greynine (English, German)Lars Sözüer (English, French, German, Esperanto)
there's a brand new service that allows users to create a website in just a few minutes. Nothing spectacular, but a very nice service to mashup twitter, vimeo, RSS feeds and photos from flickr.

I miss a sophisticated way to represent my ipernity stream,
I tried RSS feed but I jut get the text of the photos, not the photo itself.
I think that this is not too much work for someone who's familiar with RSS coding
Seeing so many closed accounts we really need an adult rating. That would solve 95% of the issues. And probably more work than constantly blocking and reopening accounts;-)

It is really hard, in particular in an international community, to agree on standards and borderline cases.
Some mails remain important information, URL, etc, etc.
Just feel like I wish to have "Search Engine" hits the one I want to read again.
You can put some key words or contact's name in the search box and wait and see what would be hit :)

Gee Dub has started a topic:

It seems that some groups that I have joined are now dead. What I mean is that images submitted for posting to a group NEVER get posted. It took some time to figure why this was happening. At first I thought the admin thought my submissions were against the groups guidelines. This might be because I accidentally dropped my images into the wrong group using Doc Manager.

I started double checking and added images directly from the save to group tab above a image and being sure that it met all the groups guidelines. I waited a week thinking maybe the guy was on vacation or out of town. Still, no new postings were going up. The I checked the member listing and found the admin for the group. I was planning on asking the admin what was up. That's when I found out that the admin's account was suspended. The last posting for the group was months ago. It now seems apparent that the admin was suspended then he just stopped using Ipernity. He never quit, just left. This admin was the sole admin.

I think this is a error in Ipernities setup of groups. If a admin is suspended and is not active for 30 days a new admin should be automatically promoted. This should first go to the oldest moderator and if no moderator exists it should automatically go to the senior active member. Once a new admin is in place they can quit if they don't want the job or he can recruit from other members of the group.

Or quite simply, if the group is inactive (no new posts in 30-60 days) to close the group. Some members of Ipernity may want to start a new group but don't because there so many others groups that already exist.

This is not a big problem but one that I recently discovered. It seems like a waste of my time. I was posting to groups that would never be approved because the admin was no longer there and nobody had replaced him.

In my network updates or group updates I often find that once I click on an image, I cannot reach it because the account is blocked. This is kind of annoying. Actually, I want to see it. Later I will not see it again. Those images should not be displayed, but only once the are really available.

Sometimes a huge bulk of images is in the approval queue for a group. It would be helpful if I could with one mouse-click all to the same setting (e.g. check later). Now the default is to approve. In many cases, I need to deny or individually check, therefore this is rather complicated to realize.

When I want to invite them to my groups I have four pages. It would be much better if those people not yet a member or already invited would be on top. Or even better those not available not showing up at all.

After the first page you are asked if you want to invite more. But then you get back to the first page where you might just come from.

2) All new uploads to all subscribed groups combined
The number of pictures shown on one page should be bigger (could be an option), so you don't have to click next that often.

Even better if:
Marking of new items would mean it is new, e.g. when visiting a group, new tag should be exactly on those things which were published (not applied to) the group since last visit.

I would also be great to resort the whole stream.

Gee Dub has started a topic:

Getting responses to discussions in groups is very difficult. Even in this group which is about discussions does not get many responses. I have wondered why this is at Ipernity. I am also a member at Flickr and discussions and topics are much more lively there.

I think I have found the reason why this is so. When new discussions or replies to old ones are made, no quick easy to see notice is given to members or admins. True the group name is made bold when new photos are added but this happens to most all groups every day, so seeing a bold group name does not help me know if a new discussion or reply has been made to a group. Flickr make the group name bold only when new discussions or replies have been made. The main way a person call tell if there has been discussion activity is to open up the group main page. With all the groups I belong to that is not a practical way to find out.

Sometimes I go weeks before I open a groups page. Mainly because discussions and replies are pretty rare. Sometimes it is several days or more before I find out a new discussion or reply has been made. By that time the person who made the topic has given up trying to discuss a topic. Sometimes even offending the person by not replying. I really want to respond to discussions for any group where I can add something to the discussion but I have given up because no body replies. I think most members don't know when new discussions have been started or replies have been made.

Having a way to know that a new topic or a reply has been made in a group on the group page is key to making discussions relevant here at Ipernity. I know that there is a tab under the group pull-down for recent activity but I don't think many people use that. Most just click on the "group" tab and look at the group page. I use this to find all groups I admin that have photos waiting for approval. Maybe another column with new discussions in addition to pending photos?
