After days of heavy rain it was time to get my boots back on and try another go at capturing one of my local waterfalls in slow motion. Here is a 1/15th sec shot via my 3 stop NF filter.
Enjoy the week.

Certainly not a spot to loose ones footing whilst taking photographs like this :) A small series of steps and an iron bridge brought me to this island that is a favourite place for selfies in the summer I gather. (A future photo for our HFF group maybe.) We are actually on our way to walk the bank of the nearby lake of Elter Water.

“Skelwith Falls (or Skelwith Force) is a picturesque, moderately sized waterfall on the River Brathay near Skelwith Bridge in the Lake District, known for being easily accessible via a short, mostly flat walk from Chesters Cafe or Skelwith Bridge, offering close-up views from riverside paths and viewpoints, making it a popular, accessible spot for families and walkers enjoying the scenery and the sound of the rushing water, especially after rain” (Google AI overview)
It is our local 'Hartshead Pike', a tower that I have seen from one of my house windows for much of my life.

This is a high, almost desolate spot where one can feel a special connection with the land and history. In these days of uncertainly and climate catastrophes it is nice to know that this seems to stand forever and can even be seen from flying aircraft coming in to land at Manchester Airport. The very long 30 second exposure emphasises the passage of time here.

The present tower, built in 1863 by John Eaton near the site of an earlier one which was used as a signalling station, commemorates the wedding of the Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra of Denmark. Standing at 940ft (286m) ASL it is one of our highest landmarks in this area.
It's normally very subdued but after weeks and weeks of continuous rainfall it is faster and higher then normal. Anyway, here is an attempt to slow it all down and give it more substance by using a very long shutter speed of 15 seconds with a x10 ND filter and a sturdy tripod. Catch the fallen Autumn leafs on the river bank here, As can be seen, a gentle breeze is blowing and moments later the heavens open up again as I rush back home protecting my lens and camera.
Enjoy large.
