We are completely different characters and often dispute about things. But we appreciate each other and have shared a lot of good times since decades. (Captured by my wife on top of the Bärenkopf (1.991m), situated southwards from Pertisau (Tyrol, Austria).)

Wir sind völlig verschiedene Charaktere und haben zu vielen Dingen auch ganz unterschiedliche Ansichten. Aber wir schätzen einander seit Jahrzehnten und haben schon viele gute Zeiten miteinander gehabt. (Aufgenommen auf dem Gipfel des Bärenkopf (1.991m), südlich von Pertisau (Tirol, Österreich).

Yesterday morning within the valley of Gramai (part of the Karwendel Mountains, Tyrol, Austria). Starting point for different hiking tours and for the ascent of Lamsenspitze (the striking peak in the background)

Gestern früh im Karwendeltal Gramai (Tirol, Österreich). Ausgangspunkt für verschiedenste Wandertouren und für die Besteigung der Lamsenspitze (der markante Gipfel im Hintergrund)

Anreise in herrlicher Morgensonne auf völlig leeren Straßen. (Die meisten Touristen schlafen noch.)

Some minutes ago this year's summertime came to it's end. Thank you universe for all the gifts you gave us, with this capture of a purple gentian (rarely to find within the alps as a consequence of human stupidness).

Since this flower has been identified by Cammino an Schussentäler (see below), and since I've read the corresponding article in Wikipedia , I decided to give this photo a new title. The strategy of this flower (marsh grass of Parnassus) to get pollinated is exciting. (Found nearby the Binsalm, Karwendel, Austria)

Nachdem die Blume durch Cammino und Schussentäler bestimmt wurde (s.u.), hab ich die Beschreibung auf Wikipedia durchgelesen und dem Bild einen neuen Titel gegeben: Prinzessin der Täuschung. Hochinteressant nämlich, welch aufwändige Bestäubungsstrategie dieses Blümlein entwickelt hat. (Gesehen in der Nähe der Binsalm, Karwendel)

Willow Gentian (Gentiana asclepiadea), seen on my way from Hinterriß to the Little Ahornboden (Karwendel Mountains, Austria).

Schwalbenwurz-Enzian (Herbst-Enzian, Blauer Kreuzwurz, Gentiana asclepiadea), eine Kalk liebende Enzianart, die 30-100cm hoch wächst. Gesehen beim Aufstieg von Hinterriß zum Kleinen Ahornboden (Karwendelgebirge, Tirol):

Hairy Alpenrose, only growing on lime rock (preferably within the Tyrolese limestone alps). It is as toxic as other kinds of alpenroses.

Bewimperte Alpenrose (Rhododendron hirsutum, Almrausch, Steinrose), die nur auf kalkhaltigem Geröll wächst, aber ebenso giftig ist wie die rostblättrige Alpenrose, die man vor allem auf Almen findet.

The last hundred meters before the "Engalm", which is the first goal. Those who want may drop out here. Those who didn't arrive here in between 8:30 hrs, must terminate, because it would be to late to continue the walk until Pertisau.

Die letzten hundert Meter vor dem Zwischenziel "Engalm". Wer will, kann hier aufhören. Wer nicht innerhalb von 8:30 Stunden eingetroffen ist, muss hier aufhören, weil es sonst zu spät würde für den Rest der Strecke bis Pertisau.

It was most difficult to capture the runners as large as possible. There dwell time in front of the lense was only a part of a second.

Am schwierigsten war es, die Läufer/innen möglichst groß ist Bild zu holen. Denn beim erforderlichen Weitwinkel für den Hintergrund war ihre Verweilzeit vor der Linse nur Bruchteile von Sekunden.

The runners have covered a distance of 35 kilometers so far, and mastered 1256 meters of altitude.

Participants of the 8th Karwendel Hike at 28th of August, 2016. Until here (Kleiner Ahornboden) they have mastered 800 meters of altitude and 24 kilometers of distance within three an a half hour. Another 1000 meters of altitude and 28 kilometers still are to tackle.

Teilnehmer des 8. Karwendelmarsches am 28. Aug. 2016, dreieinhalb Stunden nach dem Start. Sie haben schon einmal 800 Höhenmeter überwunden und sind bis hierher (Kleiner Ahornboden) rund 24 km marschiert oder gejoggt. Mehr als 1000 Höhenmeter und 28 Kilometer Wegstrecke liegen noch vor Ihnen.

This picture shows the alpine pasture, which the runners have to traverse. The location is called "Little Ahornboden". It was the first point of the trail, which could be achieved by bike during the competition with a long way round, as the competition trail of course was closed for bikers at that day.

Diese Fotoposition zeigt den Almcharakter des Hochtales, das die Läufer queren. Es handelt sich um den Kleinen Ahornboden und war die erste für den Fotografen überhaupt - auf Umwegen per Bike - erreichbare Location. Denn die Wettbewerbsstrecke war an dem Tag für Biker natürlich gesperrt.

Die Läuferin im Bild hat die Gesamtstrecke übrigens in +10:13:07 geschafft, von hier aus also noch knapp sieben Stunden vor sich:

View from Hohljoch (1.794m) to the Laliderer Mountains (several summits, each one a little bit higher than 2.600m). See PiP to discover the Falkenhütte (1.848m).

Blick vom Hohljoch (1.794m) rüber zu den Lalidererwänden, deren Gipfel alle knapp über 2.600 m hoch sind. Rechts unten - im "goldenen Schnitt" -die Falkenhütte (1.848m). In dieser Höhe hat der Winter bereits Einzug gehalten.
