Easington and Roxby Becks, two brooks that run into Staithes Beck, form the border between the Borough of Scarborough and Redcar and Cleveland. The area located on the Redcar and Cleveland side is called Cowbar.

A corner of Stainforth .Stainforth is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated north of Settle. Nearby there is a waterfall, Stainforth Force, where the river falls over limestone ledges into a deep, broad pool which can be accessed by walking a short way from the village.

The footbridge over Staithes Beck at Staithes in North Yorkshire, England. The bridge spans Roxby Beck next to the harbour and provides pedestrian access between the village of Staithes, the harbour North Side and also the village of Cowbar.

The first record of the Whitby Abbey steps comes from 1340, but they’re believed to be even older. The steps were originally made from wood. It was not until 1774 that the original wooden steps were replaced with stone from Sneaton.

It is thought the 199 steps were used as a test of Christian faith to those who wished to worship in St Mary’s Church. Climbing the steps would prove that you were faithful. Anyone who has climbed them recently knows how testing they can be!

Salts Mill is a former textile mill, now an art gallery, shopping centre, and restaurant complex in Saltaire, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was built by Sir Titus Salt in 1853, and the present-day 1853 Gallery takes its name from the date of the building which houses it.

Titus Salt created an entire village of houses, park, school, library, recreation and learning institute and outdoor sport facilities around the mill naming the streets after his children and family. In 1869 he was created a baronet by Queen Victoria, thus becoming Sir Titus Salt.

The Saltburn Cliff Tramway opened in 1884 to replace a vertical hoist and is now the oldest water balanced funicular still in operation in Great Britain, linking the Victorian town of Saltburn with the only remaining pleasure pier on the whole North East and Yorkshire coast.
