It's a good fun scramble down to this point. Over many years I have seen a total of 3 fishermen down here and no-one else.

Fundraising is still going on. Apparently and, ultimately, IMA need at least $50,000 to continue Ipernity into 2018!

Basset Cove and Crane Islands, Cornwall.
High tide (at low tide, this is on one of my favourite shoreline rock-hopping 'walks'!).
The South West Peninsula Coast Path once followed the line of the fence. Now it has to veer sharply inland due to severe coastal erosion.

A wonderful stretch of the the South West Peninsula Coast Path, Zennor, West Penwith, Cornwall.
Gurnard's Head; so named because of its resemblance to the fish.
The raised coastal platform, or strip, will immediately be apparent to all you amateur geographers out there!

Chun Quoit (quoit = Cornish for dolmen). Although small, it is the best preserved quoit in Cornwall. All the others have dislodged capstones or some other disturbance. These are presumed to be burial chambers but no burial remains have ever been found. They were all originally buried under a mound of stones and earth but erosion in the harsh environment of West Penwith and the action of tomb robbers has meant that you can see the vestiges of the mound only at one quoit; here, at Chun. Estimated to be approx. 6,000 years old.
Sited in Morvah parish, West Penwith, Cornwall. Misspelt Quiot on Google maps!

Gurnard; a fish - and very tasty too, In French: triglidae, In Spanish, rubio.
sounds wrong, Word Reference often is!
The far headland is supposed to resemble the strange angular shape of the head of a gurnard.

Bosigran. Climbing cliff face and mine ruins. (best on full screen). I saw the mist coming in unexpectedly and so took this shot quickly! 20 Minutes later and I was driving away with lights on full beam!

A famous sea-cliff climbing Mecca. I came here many times in the late 70s and early 80s to climb (the climbing routes are far more extensive than can be seen here, they extend round the corner and far down to sea level). Now I prefer just to walk and scramble! A sea mist ('fret' in Cornish) was just coming in. Best on full screen!

Some will remember this from Pano and 23 hq. Pure fantasy with a bit of tweaking of tone but the colours at that moment were not far off this!

Crane Castle was an Iron Age (possibly older) clifftop fort and settlement. It has fallen into the sea over the centuries and I am standing on what would have been the landward battlements. Maybe another 200 years before it falls away completely?
