...and that would be why I haven't painted the front hall yet. ;) I only meant to pot the one plant - which looked *really* unhappy in its plastic store-pot - before getting back to covering the floor so I could finish the painting, but the plants sort of took over...

The room is starting to come together, but there's still a lot of work left to do... The original plan was to paint the front hall (behind me) once the side windows were painted and the furniture was more or less in place, but those windows were looking really empty; and so I've been playing with plants all week. :)

Still need to find a coffee table - originally thought I'd use those two side tables in the center of the seating rather than the corners, but they're just a bit too high... Also need to paint the front windows and the wall opposite; i have the colors all worked out, but first I need to finish filling the side windows with plants... :)

I can never just take the top thing off the stack, I always end up looking for a "good" one (or, if they're all identical - a pile of books, as for example - i'll just pull a random one from the middle). Good thing, or I might have missed this big-enough-for-the-orange-tree-pot plant-saucer. :)

Playing with color, again... :)

(the painted square is the combo-test for the bookcase (the dark green outline is what i ended up using for the other wall); i've got testers of the six colors on the right, and small cans of the three on the left. and yes, i absolutely choose my paint colors based on their names... :) )

Ran out of the lighter blue paint ("Mammoth Mountain") before I was done, picked up a big stack of paint chips - in colors I normally wouldn't be looking at (mostly based on names) - to get ideas for the rest of the room while they were mixing up another can. Definitely going to go with lighter colors on the window walls, but some of those are way too light/bright... :)

Bookcase in the sunlight. :) The shortest top shelves have just enough clearance for a trade-paperback or a medium-small hardback...

Plan to fix the Big Gaping Hole in the wall (from when they replaced the old electrical panel - which had a failure mode which occaisionally set the house on fire instead of tripping the circuit breaker - with a new, non-splodey one): top half will be hinged, and open flat against the side wall, bottom half will also be removable in case I ever need to access the wires coming down from the bottom of the panel, but I expect it'll pretty much always stay closed... (Door will be labelled, and I'll put a note describing the location on the inside of the cover to the main electrical panel (on the outside of the house)
