Some clippings from inside the booklet. The menus and recipes are all the usual stuff, (lots of fluffy whitish cakes and various meat-starch fusions jammed into ring molds) but the line drawings are pretty cool.

My copy does have a few hand-written recipes added, including one for "Rushan Beef Balls," otherwise known to old-timey U.S. cooks as "porcupine meatballs."

I guess the chocolate-pear combo has come back into fashion since the time I first posted this picture. But I still think this pie would work better as jewelry or a wall-hanging than as food.

The flowery-crescent moon cookies are adorable. But I'm tortured by the fact that I have no idea what she's using to seal them up. Maybe it's a fountain pen with the ink removed?

Okay, I admit it. I love the Deco-like stylings of these pages. The bright yellow and blue, the "capsule" shapes. The ham's line and color take it about two steps away from being a still life by Gauguin.
