The revised livery now features white relief and the kingfisher symbol from the fleetname is also carried on the side windows in a style of the bird flying away.

For some years Theobold’s has operated this combined holiday express service/day excursion from Dunstable and Luton to Great Yarmouth on Saturdays. For 2023 the dates of operation were 27 May, 3 June, 22 and 29 July, 5, 12, 19 and 26 August then 2 September. As well as carrying holiday passengers who stay at the coast for a week or more the coach is also advertised as a day excursion. It would give day visitors an arrival at about 1130 returning about 1630.

Theobolds appears to share the same management as County Coaches (UK) LLP which trades as coachhire4u. The logo of the latter appears on the lower front offside panel and on the entrance door.

The bus nearest the camera (ZG 3375 of which I didn’t note the fleet number) is a Ramsier und Jenzer bodied FBW on the stand for service 11 to Schönegg from where there is a funicular railway connection to Zugerberg. Behind that is Hess bodied FBW number 5 (ZG 3355) which was about to go round the roundabout to face in the opposite direction and park on the loading stand for service 1 to Oberägeri. Whilst it is not too obvious from this angle the latter is towing a drawbar trailer which appears to look like a third bus. Drawbar trailers boost passenger capacity at busy times without the need for extra staff and fuel costs. On the left is part of Zug’s railway station which comprises a ‘Y’ shaped junction. The platform visible is for the line towards the Gotthard tunnel and Italy. I returned to Zug in June 2008. The railway station had been completely modernised featuring a large glass building visible in the background of these photographs:
Many of the services of RATP traverse some narrow streets and in many cases because these are one-way the inward and outward routes can be quite different! In 1980 Saviem lost its identity in a reorganisation of the Renault Group when Saviem and Berliet were merged to form RVI (Renault Véhicules Industriels). Interesting that the corner shop bears the Renault name!
