A trip near Wrexham in Wales brings us to the magnificent Erddig Hall and its gardens.
Here is the formal avenue of pleached lime trees creating lines of rich golden hues for us.

“Pleached lime trees (Tilia europaea or cordata) are excellent winter structure plants, featuring a clear, formal framework of branches and striking red-toned twigs. As deciduous trees, they lose leaves in winter but maintain screening through dense, interlaced branches.” Google

As we walks a round this rather large parkland, our path takes us through old woodlands of typical British Deciduous trees. These woody plants shed all their leaves annually—typically in autumn—to conserve energy and water, surviving winter or dry seasons by entering dormancy. They often display vibrant foliage colours before losing leaves to reveal structural branches. Common examples include oak, maple, beech, birch, and ash. Behind this characteristic dead trunk lies a small lake that the deer herd no doubt takes to at times.

Two hours were all we had here in these splendid grounds of this parkland. We are by the lake having just had our picnic. We see the splendid hall in the distance, our next venue. Alas time did not allow an internal view but it was closed anyway.

A rare few hours of blue sky and sunshine brings us back to Dunham Massey to see the first snowdrops of the year. The good weather, albeit being cold, brings out many visitors here all clamouring for a bit of natures colour before the promised snows and rains returned just hours later.

We are back in Dunham Massey to catch the autumn golds as we pass this grand old building surrounded by soft greens and yellowing leaves. See PiP for my earlier version.

The building itself is considered to be around 400 years old and originally functioned as a corn mill.

Walking through the deer-park of Dunham Massey is always a good experience. The deer at this time of year are mainly in an isolated (from the public) part but they are free to roam around here too if they wish. The golden hues of autumn are well and truly with us now and in no time at all the trees will be bare.

We are in The Walks park inside King’s Lynn. A small park but with many things to catch the eye. Here we start to see the onset of our autumn colours too but I think today (a month later) the leave would have been a much richer gold.

If it would have been a Sunday, then nearby crowds would have thronged around this stand to hear local brass bands showing off their love of music. We are in the main park of King’s Lynn called the ‘The Walks’ and just soaking up the views as we finish our picnic but as you can see –we cannot hear the music. It can be noted that our Autumn is starting to appear as witnessed by the changing leaves.

A visit to the town of King’s Lynn in Norfolk brings us to it’s local park called ‘The Walks’. The tower in the background (PiP) is called Red Mount Chapel, a part of the local history for 540 years. Built as a respite for pilgrims on their way to the Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham, giving them the chance to stop and pray. During that time it has undergone many transformations

In 2006 we had a holiday in the Andalucia coastal town of Nerja in Spain. From there we had a day trip to this famous old palace. Of course lots of photos taken and here is one of its little arched courtyards and fountains known as the Para Lindaraja Patio.

Walking back along St Helier’s promenade from the yacht harbour we spot quite an amazing fountain in the 'Le Jardins de la Mer'. It is of two swimmers and two dolphins, (see Pip for 2nd dolphin) by Philip Henry Christopher Jackson, Scottish sculptor 1997.

Surrounded by new springtime tulips we hear the sound of water as well as the hum of tourist here. I think you will agree with me that is a delightful scene that I feel we are most lucky to be able to wander around. In some places around the world people would see this as heaven!

As one sits on this bench in the Howard Davis Park in St Helier, Jersey, we can concentrate of at least three angles of fine garden views. Unfortunately, sitting here just misses the view into the big band/concert stand around the corner on the right but you would certainly enjoy the sounds.
