Welcome to Lochend Park - HBM everyone
Lochend Park is a public park and was originally the grounds of Lochend Castle, part of the feudal lands of Robert Logan of Restalrig. The original castle was replaced by Lochend House in 1810 which also doesn't exist any more.
The loch with its wide range of waterfowl is the main attraction, but there are also historical buildings, i.e. the old waterhouse and a 16th-century doocot which is Category B listed.
The doocot (dovecot) was erected to supply pigeons to Lochend Castle and still today they are breeding there
Lochend Loch served as Leith's main water supply from around 1650. Originally gravity-fed, there is an early 18th century pump station, which facilitated the process, between the doocot and the loch.

HBM from the Firth of Forth

Die Forth Bridge ist eine zweigleisige Eisenbahnbrücke über den Firth of Forth, die im Gegensatz zu dem bis dahin verwendeten Schmiedeeisen vollständig aus Stahl hergestellt wurde. Sie hatte bei ihrer Eröffnung 1890 die größte Spannweite aller Brücken weltweit.

Etwa 900 m weiter landeinwärts steht die Forth Road Bridge, eine 1964 eröffnete, vierspurige Hängebrücke. Sie ist seit Eröffnung einer neuen Straßenbrücke nur für Fußgänger und Biker nutzbar. Noch etwas weiter landeinwärts liegt die Brücke Queensferry Crossing, eine Schrägseilbrücke, auf der seit dem 30. August 2017 der M90 motorway über den Firth of Forth führt

Surgeons' Hall Museum is the major medical museum in Scotland. It belonges to the The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh that was incorporated on 1 July 1505. The museum dates from 1699 when the incorporation announced that they were making a collection of "natural and artificial curiosities".

HBM vom Energie-Bunker in Wilhelmsburg.

Rund 30 Meter hoch ist der ehemalige Weltkriegsbunker und Flak-Turm. Über einen Zeitraum von mehr als 60 Jahren durfte niemand den gewaltige Betonklotz mit seinem bis zu drei Meter dicken Mauern betreten - Einsturzgefahr. In den 2010er-Jahren wurde er saniert und umgebaut. Seither ist er ein Öko-Kraftwerk und versorgt rund 1.700 Haushalte mit Wärme und weitere 1.500 Haushalte mit Strom.
Auf seinem Dach befindet sich ein Café mit einer Aussichtsterrasse. Von dort bietet sich ein eindrucksvoller Blick über Wilhelmsburg und den Hamburger Hafen. Auch das Innere des Bunkers ist zu besichtigen: Führungen bieten die Geschichtswerkstatt Wilhelmsburg (Anmeldung erbeten) und der städtische Energieversorger Hamburg Energie (Sa und So jeweils 14, 15 und 16 Uhr) regelmäßig an.
