Tuesday 1 September 2020 (0741) – One of a series of photographs to capture the different villages displayed on destination indicator of the morning bus from Stechworth to Cambridge. In addition to ‘Cambridge’ this display also includes ‘Dullingham'.

For a number of years there has been a single early morning bus service starting at Stetchworth running to Cambridge with a homeward single journey back to Stetchworth around 1730. From Monday 27 July 2020 the Stetchworth trips became extensions to the Newmarket Road Park and Ride service.

Stagecoach in Cambridge (Cambus) Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC 10809 (SN66 WBF) had just arrived in Drummer Street on the morning trip. New in January 2017 it was one of the buses that before reaching Cambus had been temporarily assigned to Stagecoach Merseyside (Glenvale) to provide increased capacity during railway engineering works on the Merseyrail Wirral line.

Six Mile Bottom lies six miles from Newmarket along a virtually straight road once the A11 trunk route now numbered A1304 since the A11 was upgraded in the early 1970s.

In the background is City of Oxford Motor Services Limited 59 (BM68 AHU), a Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B11RT new in February 2019, which was between trips on National Express service 737. It had worked the 0630 trip from Stansted arriving here at 0715 and departed at 0820 for Oxford at 0820 (arriving there at 1300). Looking at the timetable it looked like it may have worked the 0200 service from Oxford to Stansted (arriving at 0535).

Tuesday 1 September 2020 (0836) – In December 2019 Stagecoach East took delivery of twelve 98 seat Alexander Dennis Enviro400XLB bodied Volvo B8L tri-axle double deckers for operation on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

When delivered they were unlettered but painted in the new Ocean Green scheme in readiness for the changes of livery which the Stagecoach Group introduced in early 2020. The group announced a range of different colour schemes to identify the different types of services operated and Ocean Green was chosen for ‘specialist’ services which covers the vehicles employed on the Busway.

Tuesday 1 September 2020 (0810) – Quite recently the Stagecoach Cambridge to Oxford X5 service was split at Bedford with the Bedford-Oxford section retaining service number X5 and the Bedford-Cambridge section becoming service 905.

Stagecoach in Bedford 10877 (YX67 VDO), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC new in October 2017, is seen at Parkside, Cambridge about to work the 0800 departure of service 905 to Bedford. The service is registered in two sections (Cambridge-St. Neots/St. Neots-Bedford), two shorter sections which keeps it within the rules of domestic driving hours and formalities.

Standing behind is City of Oxford Motor Services Limited 59 (BM68 AHU), a Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B11RT new in February 2019, which was between trips on National Express service 737. It had worked the 0630 trip from Stansted arriving here at 0715 and departed at 0820 for Oxford (arriving there at 1300). Looking at the timetable it looked like it may have previously worked the 0200 service from Oxford to Stansted (arriving at 0535).
