The most senior position for a flag on a vessel is reserved for the Ensign - this is as close to the stern of the vessel as possible. The Ensign shows the country of registry of the vessel and indicates its nationality.

The Australian Red Ensign is a predominantly red version of the Australian National Flag, using the same shade of red as the Cross of Saint George which is part of the Union Jack present in the canton.

It has three elements, the Union Jack in the upper left corner (or canton), the white Commonwealth Star underneath it and the Southern Cross on the fly (or right hand side) of the flag in white.

The British Red Ensign is used by Merchant ships and private vessels, and in several Commonwealth countries (including Australia) the Red Ensign has the addition of emblems/flags of that country.

Added 3rd November, interesting history from Wikipedia... The Red Ensign or "Red Duster" is the civil ensign of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is one of the British ensigns, and it is used either plain or defaced with a badge or other emblem, mostly in the right half.

It is the flag flown by British merchant or passenger ships since 1707. Prior to 1707, an English red ensign and a Scottish red ensign were flown by the English Royal Navy and the Royal Scots Navy, respectively. The precise date of the first appearance of these earlier red ensigns is not known, but surviving payment receipts indicate that the English navy was paying to have such flags sewn in the 1620s.

Took this 5th October. Today is Wednesday 7th. We have just put up a cat net on our back deck as Dora has worked out how to jump over. On a trial run she nearly fell off the other side which is about 4-5 metres above the ground, very high. Dangerous, but she has had a taste of the great outdoors, and is desperate.
We are concerned about the native birds, and about her... ticks, snakes, etc.

52 weeks of 2020, week 46... Ode to the Masters... Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo or Leonardo... For this weeks challenge we would like you to recreate the mood, feel and style of those old masters listed above or any of their contemporaries. In particular your shot needs to extol the virtues of light and shadow interplay. You can either recreate an existing work of art or just opt to copy the style, you can do a still life or a portrait or whatever you feel would be suitable.

The term Old Master is used to identify an eminent European artist from the approximate period 1300 to 1800 and includes artists from the Early Renaissance through to the Romantic movement. theartstory.org › definition › old-masters

Clara Peeters (active 1607–1621) was a Flemish still-life painter from Antwerp who worked in both the Spanish Netherlands and Dutch Republic.

Peeters is the best-known female Flemish artist of this era and one of the few women artists working professionally in seventeenth-century Europe, despite restrictions on women's access to artistic training and membership in guilds. Peeters specialized in still-life paintings with food and was prominent among the artists who shaped the traditions of the Netherlandish ontbijtjes, "breakfast pieces," scenes of food and simple vessels, and banketjes, "banquet pieces" with expensive cups and vessels in precious metals.

When arriving at Gloucester from the east, Mograni Lookout is a grandstand for one of the best views in the Barrington Coast... Mograni Lookout is on the high ridge overlooking Gloucester, just before the Bucketts Way descends into the valley. On the left is the Mograni Range and below lies the town of Gloucester nestled on a quiet bend of the Gloucester River beneath the Buccan Buccans (the Bucketts Mountains).

The Gloucester River is born as a rugged mountain stream high in Barrington Tops but transforms to a calm and beautiful waterway passing verdant farmland in its lower reaches. It lends a lot of this beauty to the township of Gloucester where it's joined by the Barrington River and Avon River, in the valley below

Queen Elizabeth is almost identical in design to Queen Victoria, although because of the steeper stern, at her introduction into service the passenger capacity was slightly higher with up to 2,058 compared to Queen Victoria's 2,014.

The ship also features a Britannia Club section of the main restaurant, which is a feature popular on Queen Mary 2, but not available on Queen Victoria. This service allows passengers in the Britannia staterooms to have single seating dining arrangements, without having to upgrade to the more expensive Grills classes.
Daylight saving time south of Brisbane. I didn't change my camera time, and it recorded 11.22am.
