Queen Street, Glasgow

One of Glasgow's oldest and most iconic shops has announced has closed its doors for the final time.

Tam Shepherds joke and trick shop in Queen Street said that a "sad" decision had been taken to shut up shop, with its last day of trading falling on 9th November.

The Weavers' Lion sculpture is a significant piece of public art in Paisley, celebrating the town's rich weaving heritage. The sculpture was created by artist Kevin Stewart Cantwell and was originally located on High Street before being moved to the Sma' Shot Cottages in May 2017.

The lion symbolizes the strength and resilience of Paisley's weavers, who were known for their exceptional skills and craftsmanship. The relocation of the sculpture to the Sma' Shot Cottages was part of an effort to highlight the historical importance of weaving in Paisley and to create a more immersive experience for visitors to the site.

The Glen Cinema disaster was a deadly crowd crush caused by a smoking film canister at a cinema in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, on 31 December 1929. The resulting panic and crush killed 69 children and injured up to 40 others; the final death toll was 71. It is considered one of the worst disasters in Scottish history. The building that housed the Glen Cinema still stands and, as of 2015, houses a furniture store.

The Russell Institute is a building in Paisley, Scotland.

The building was generously donated by Agnes Russell to the Burgh of Paisley as a memorial to her two brothers, Thomas and Robert Russell, who passed away in 1913 and 1920 respectively. Initially, it served as a child welfare clinic, but today, Renfrewshire Council utilizes it as a multi purpose facility.
