Recently, we celebrated our town's local street fair/fall festival and the museum we have downtown that specializes in the history of our town, (Norris City), was open for the occasion. One of the people that manage the museum is named Ludene Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was the local high school's art teacher until she retired; and she taught me art back in the 1970s. I happened to bump into her this past week and she asked me to come to the museum, as she had some photographs for me. She said she's 89 now and wanted to make sure the pictures she took through the years of all her art classes wouldn't get thrown away after she passed on. So, she gave them all to me. There was a whole tote's worth of pictures! I felt quite honored that she chose me to be entrusted with them. But then, I am kind of the local photographer around town and everybody knows that.

This was taken three years before I was born and the float pictured seems to represent some local newspapers. The 3 girls are throwing out candy to the waiting kids.

This image is from a roll of old film I found inside a Minolta 110 camera that I purchased at a local antique store. The film was inside the camera, but hadn't even been advanced to the first frame! Of course, I had to use the film and see if anything would turn out. On my way to town one day, I stopped and got a picture of this man working for the power company. The power had went off for a little while and had done so while I was in the shower. By the time I got back home later that night, however, the power had been restored. This shot was taken with the camera's "telephoto" setting.

This photo is of my grandfather’s grave. His name was John Dewey William McKinley Wright and he died before I was born, so I never got to meet him.

My girlfriend found an old Instamatic camera for my collection and got it because it had a roll of film in it. It had been loaded and wound to the first frame, but since it sat in the camera for around 40 years, the first frame and a half had possibly (probably) been exposed many times. I shot the roll and developed it today to see if I any pictures on the roll turned out. They were quite faded and suffered heavy color shift, but I got useable images! The roll was in a Kodak Instamatic 154 when she bought it, but I transferred it to a Kodak Instamatic 104 that I’ve had for awhile and been wanting to shoot with.

The back of my old Dodge motorhome.

My girlfriend found an old Instamatic camera for my collection and got it because it had a roll of film in it. I bought some old slides in a Kodak carousel slide tray off eBay and the slides were listed inside the box as "Vacation 1970 - Athens to Congo." This was one that I presume was taken in the Congo.

It's kind of sad that I was able to buy these images because they should have been passed down to relatives. I assume the people who shot these slides during their vacation are probably dead by now, seeing as how it was 50 years ago. I noticed that they seemed to have been a pretty good photographer and the Kodak Kodachrome slides have held up excellently! They were probably Kodachrome 25.

I think this is the French Alps because the very next slide after this has a sign with the above-named mountain. It states it has an altitude of 3,842 m./12,602 ft.

As seen in a comment below and thanks to another member here on Ipernity, this place is called "Aiguille Du Midi," which means "Needle Of The Midday."

I'm still going through them, and although a lot of them are of students that came after me and I don't know who they are, I've been scanning some that are interesting. Such as this one. I don't know who the two girls are, but they look like they're dressed for Homecoming. I scanned this Polaroid image and cleaned it up because it was a little faded and scratched. I'm fairly certain it was taken in the mid- to late-1980s. The hair is a dead giveaway.

This picture is from a roll of old film that was left unfinished in an old Kodak Instamatic 104 camera. I developed it a couple days ago. It was in an old 126 film cartridge and was Kmart brand Focal color print film. The speed of the film, 80 ASA, dates it to no later than the mid-1970s, so these pictures were probably taken in the late-1960s or early-1970s.

The images were all seriously degraded in this manner, but I could see enough to tell the styles were from that period as well. Found film that is this old very rarely turns out with good, clear results. But, it is interesting to see pictures that people took but never finished shooting the roll to find out how they turned out.

It looks like this girl was graduating from high school and was the class Salutatorian, according to the sash around her neck.

I bought a couple exposed Kodak disc films off eBay, so I could attempt to reload them. I thought that they hadn't been shot yet, so I shot this roll through my Ansco Disc HR20 disc camera. When I developed it, I saw some faint images, but nothing that I had remembered shooting. I know for a fact I didn't shoot any people. So, that's how I found it was an old, exposed disc that just hadn't been developed. I don't know how much affect my having shot with it a second time had to do with the quality of the negatives - maybe nothing. This was the best image of all 15 on the disc. The guy on the right reminds me of Eric Morecambe.

Developed in a Unicolor C-41 1-litre kit.

This was some Kodak Kodacolor-X film I found and developed it. They stopped making it in 1974, so it's on the order of 50 years old. I didn't notice until after I started developing it, but the 126 cartridge said it was C-22 - I used C-41, so I'm not sure how it turned out. It might have lost all the color or the colors could be shifted a lot. But, to me, it was pretty even, except for the top and bottom edges.

I'm not sure what the structure is, but from looking at some other frames, it kind of looked like a coal mine, and it sat next to a railroad line.

My order of 110 film came back and when I was looking through this roll, I couldn't remember where or when I had taken this particular shot. When I looked through the negatives to match up with the images, this one ended up being extra. There was no negative for it, so the film lab must have goofed and included somebody else's shot with mine. That's why I couldn't recognize anything about this shot.

This was from a roll of found film. I purchased a mix lot of old film off eBay, Fuji, Kodak and some Polaroid. It was the Polaroid I was interested in. But, one of the rolls of Fuji didn't have the leader sticking out anymore, so I took a chance and developed it, thinking it might have already been exposed. It was! And I have no idea who the family pictured on the roll is, it was mainly five small boys playing sports in the backyard. Toward the end of the roll, though, it appears that there was a birthday party for somebody's Grandma. I suspect the family might live in Texas, because one of the boys was wearing a San Antonio Spurs shirt. If anyone recognizes these boys, please let them know their pictures are ready!

The camera came from a resale shop and at some point in time, someone had opened the back and slightly flashed the film - that's probably why it's so grainy. Whoever it belonged to first took some vacation shots like this on the beach and two different Christmas gatherings on the roll. And then they got rid of the camera before finishing the roll or getting their film out! I wonder how that happens? Whoever you are - your pictures are ready!
