Thursday 1 September 2016 (1029) – Stagecoach 28621 (KX12 AKY), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro bodied Scania K230UD new in April 2012, seen just after setting down at stop H3 in Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes. More than likely it had arrived on a service X7 working from Leicester.

Saturday 15 September 2001 (1053) - Burtons Coaches Caetano Compass bodied Dennis Dart SLF HX51 LRL seen at King Street, Mildenhall when working the 0952 service 200 from Thetford to Newmarket. It was new to Burtons in September 2001 and was later re-registered to become R60 BCL.

Thursday 19 September 2024 (1015) – A quick and rather poor shot taken from on board Dew’s Coaches SN68 AGF in the village of Aldreth on the ‘Ely Zipper 1’ bus service. The lamp post provides support to a collection of different signs. Working upwards is the Zipper timetable case, a no dog fouling sign, a Zipper bus stop, a fire hydrant sign and the way up high is a bus stop from an earlier era.

Aldreth is surrounded by flat agricultural farmland and the many watercourses on the landscape create obstacles to travel so much so that access to the village is really only via one standard sized road from Haddenham 1.5 miles/2.4km to the north. There is a secondary route although that is via what is only a Fenland drove not much wider than a large car.

The ‘Ely Zipper 1’ circular service runs Mondays to Saturdays starting at Ely (Market Street) travelling to Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton, Stretham and Little Thetford returning to Market Street – a journey of 55 minutes. There are five full anti-clockwise journeys in the morning plus the first journey of the day which starts from Witcham. In the afternoon there are four full clockwise journeys plus the last journey of the day terminating at Witcham.

However, Aldreth is only served by the 0930 and 1330 trips on Thursdays which is market day in Ely.

The bus is a Wrightbus StreetLite DF that had been new to Passenger Plus, Tadworth, Surrey in February 2019. Acquired by Dew’s in May 2023. I found it to be a rather bumpy and noisy bus!

Friday 8 September 2023 (1130) – The driver of REL Davian YD19 HGM was delayed somewhat in St. Albans as he waited for two errant passengers that should have joined the four day break to the ‘Yorkshire Dales and Scarborough’. However, the couple sitting on the opposite side of the street were not the missing pair.

YD19 HGM is a Yutong T122HDH new in June 2019.

REL Capital now owns a number of different coach businesses including Davian ((North London), Reg’s Coaches of Welwyn, South Mimms Travel, Redwing (London) and John James Travel (Romford).

Thursday 16 July 2026 (1135) - ‘Connecting Communities’ is a demand responsive/dial-a-ride service in the West Suffolk area providing affordable, accessible transport for communities without a normal bus service.

Vehicles are operated by The Voluntary Network, a registered charity based in Newmarket which provides community transport in West Suffolk. The charity has worked on the Suffolk County Council supported ‘Connecting Communities’ service for some years.

Peugeot mini-bus WA17 CSV dating from 2017 is seen parked alongside Mildenhall bus station.

Thursday 13 August 2026 (0932) – Coach Services Limited of Thetford YN17 OLW seen in Mildenhall bus station on a private hire working.

It is an Irizar i6 bodied Scania K450 new in March 2017. Now carrying Coach Services fleetnames it had originally been operated in the name of Euroview Coaching Limited, a related business.

Tuesday 19 May 2026 (0813) – A damp morning on the seafront in Walton-on-the-Naze.

Transport Made Simple/Konnectbuses 852 (AO57 HCD), a Scania CN230UD OmniCity new to Hedingham and District in February 2008, was working school service ‘Lower 4’ to Tendring Technology College.

In late September 2025 the Go-Ahead Group sold its Go East Anglia operations to TMS. That purchase included the Konectbus brand (in Norfolk) and the Konectbuses brand (in Essex and Suffolk). The latter had only been created a short time before when Go Ahead had merged its Hedingham and Chambers businesses owned for a number of years and managed by Konectbus.

In ‘Buses’ magazine June 2026 it was reported that TMS would be rebranding its various East Anglian operations under the Central Connect name.

Wednesday 22 July 2026 (1209/1210) – Since Vectare acquired the business of Simonds of Botesdale Limited in April 2024 followed by the Vectare re-naming to become Transport Made Simple in June 2024 and then the acquisition of Konectbus/Konectbuses in September 2025 - there have been many inter group vehicle transfers not to mention the Central Connect name being applied to service registrations!

Konectbus 607 (SN61 CZX), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D new in January 2012, was seen in High Street, Ixworth as it worked the 1130 service 70 from Diss to Bury St. Edmunds, a service inherited from Simonds.

Tuesday 19 May 2026 (approx. 0816) – Transport Made Simple/Konectbus/Konectbuses 249 (LX13 CZC) seen on a damp morning in Walton-on-the-Naze when working the 0812 service 7 from The Naze to Clacton-on-Sea. It is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D that was new to Stagecoach owned East London Bus (36560) in August 2013.

Working a Konectbuses service the bus carried the legal name and address of Konectbus, East Dereham.

Tuesday 5 June 2012 (1056) - DRM Coaches (D.R. Morris) of Bromyard UK09 DRM, a tri-axle Scania Omnilink new in December 2009 as YR09 GXP, seen at Ledbury (Market House) having arrived on the 1020 service 476 from Hereford. Quite a striking vehicle indeed.

The Market House is presumed to have been designed and built in 1617 during the reign of James I by John Abel who was known as the 'Kings Carpenter'.

Saturday 8 June 2002 – Wallace Arnold Tours Jonckheere Mistral bodied Volvo B10M-62 leaving King Street, Mildenhall operating a tour feeder. The Grand Tourer theme was an upmarket range of tours employing gold coaches rather than the traditional deep cream liveried coaches. This coach, with the very special registration number 4 WA, had just 32 seats and was added to the fleet in July 2001.
