Dijon mustard is a traditional mustard from France. It owes its name to the city of Dijon, in the historical region of Burgundy in central-eastern France. France, in the Middle Ages, was already famous for its mustard so much so that in the 17th century it obtained the exclusive right to it. Burgundy played a leading role in the famous spice route of the Ancient Romans. Although the fame of local mustard came in the Middle Ages, the recipe was known from earlier times.
The mustard produced in the lands of Burgundy was made famous for its appreciation in royal palaces. It was tasted and appreciated in 1336 by King Philip VI. Despite its ancient origins, Dijon mustard only became famous in 1856, when Jean Naigeon of Dijon made a slight modification to the recipe. At the same time, it was also appreciated by Napoleon III.

-----------------------------------------------------
In rue de la Chouette, a footpath running along the north side of the church and the apse, a stone from a Notre-Dame chapel bears a unique sign. On the corner of a chapel buttress is carved a bird that the Digionese call the owl. Its meaning is unknown. For some, the owl could be a signature left there by a stonemason. What is certain is that it is not the signature of the church architect, because this bird is carved in a chapel built in the late 15th or early 16th century, or several centuries after Notre-Dame was built.

The owl is much consumed because of a superstitious practice it arouses: tourists have the habit of stroking it with their left hand, hoping that the wish they make will be granted. Today, only the general shape remains, most of the details of the sculpture have long since disappeared.
On 5 January 2001, a vandal hit the owl several times with a hammer. This degradation aroused the emotion of the people of Dijon. Rather than leave the owl as it was or replace the stone block on which it was carved, it was decided to repair the breakage. A cast of the owl was made in 1988 by a sculptor from the Louvre. It served as a model for the repair, which consisted of inlaying a fragment of stone, which was then patinated. This work was carried out in late January and early February 2001.

</media:text>

From 1669, in fact, Louis XIV had miniature lifeboats and vessels sailing on the canal, and in 1674, the Serenissima sent two gondolas and four gondoliers to the Sun King, who were housed in the buildings at the head of the Canal, which from then on were called Little Venice.
Work on the gardens began at the same time as the construction of the palace and lasted for about forty years; it was a gigantic work that required the labour of thousands of people.
--------------------------------------------------------
Claude Monet was born in Paris on 14 November 1840, the second son of Claude Auguste, a grocery store owner, and Louise Justine.
In 1845 the family moved to Le Havre and in 1855 Monet began to draw portraits and caricatures in pencil or charcoal. The following year he met Eugène Boudin who taught him to paint outdoors.
1857 his mother died and the young man was entrusted to the care of his aunt.
1859 he went to Paris to continue his painting studies: he met Delacroix, Courbet, Daubigny and Pissarro.
In 1860 he did his military service and was in Algeria in 1861. In 1862, he fell ill and returned to Le Havre, where he painted with Boudin and Jongkind. At the end of the year, in Paris, he attended courses at the Académie Gleyre, where he met Renoir, Bazille and Sisley, with whom he painted in the Forest of Fontainebleau.
In 1865 Monet exhibited for the first time at the Salon. In 1867 his son Jean was born to Camille Doncieux, the model who posed for him in numerous paintings, and they married on 26 June 1870.
In the summer of 1873, near Argenteuil, Monet produced one of his most popular paintings The Poppies, which features his wife Camille and son Jean.
In March 1878 his second son, Michel, was born.
On 5 September 1879, aged just 32, his wife Camille died.
During the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71) Monet repaired to London, where he met the merchant Paul Durand-Ruel. Back in Paris, he frequented the café Guerbois and painted at Argenteuil with Renoir.
Monet was one of the main promoters of the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874; he took part in the 1876, 1877, 1879 and 1882 editions.
From his work Impression. Sunrise of 1872 derives the name of the Impressionist current.
In 1883 he settled in Giverny and in 1892 married Alice Hoschedé, who died in 1911.
In the following years he executed the famous series of The Cathedrals of Rouen and Water Lilies.
From 1908 onwards, his eyesight became increasingly weaker: Monet became almost blind, but continued to paint anyway, sustained by a great strength of will.
Claude Monet died in Giverny on 5 December 1926
This square oozes history and beauty. The Place du Veux Marché was the setting where Joan of Arc was burned alive: 30 May 1431. It was a very different place from what it appears today with larger spaces and far fewer buildings. Today the backdrop is formed by half-timbered houses with balconies and windows decorated with flowers
