Vintage postcard (own collection) with an aerial view of North Atlantic liner TSS Olympia of the "Greek Line" and registered in Liberia and later (1968) in Greece. Published by the Greek Line, unknown date circa 1970.

The Athens Hilton (view from the South) - vintage postcard in my collection, anonymous photographer, dated in mid/late 1960s. Postcards showing modern buildings in Greece, once common, have now disappeared from the market due to the draconian Greek copyright law, which does not allow for a Freedom of Panorama (FoP).

Caption: Located minutes away from the business centre. Only hotel with swimming pool and cabana club Athens. Two bars - Coffee shop - Greek speciality taverna - Nightclub overlooking the city - roof garden - 480 air-conditioned rooms, each with privace terrace.

UPDATE: After extensive renovation, the landmark building reopened in 2026 as Conrad Athens The Ilisian, still a member of Hilton Group.

Vintage unmailed postcard showing Piraeus Port circa 1914, by anonymous photographer published by A. Pallis, Athens, Greece.

The main subject is S/S ERYSSOS (Α/Π ΕΡΥΣΣΟΣ), formerly MEDEA, launched by Palmers' in Jarrow in 1884, operated as ERYSSOS 1902-1919.

On the right, the bow of S/S PELOPS (Α/Π ΠΕΛΩΨ) of Cycladic Steam Line, launched in Liverpool in 1883.

Public domain photograph, recent addition to my collection.

French military postcard with two Greek "1912 Campaign" stamps cancelled with "TRESOR ET POSTES 198" military postmark (French Macedoinan Front) and addressed to Cote d'Or. It is also stamped with an arrival postmark at NUITS ST GEORGES - COTE D'OR - 24-9-15.

Transport Auxilliaire Français de 1er Rang.

Vintage postcard of WW I era, dated March 25, 1918 and carried privately to Belfast. Depicts ocean liner "Vasilefs Constantinos" (King Constantine) built by Cammell-Lair & Co of Birkenhead, for National Greek Line. Launched in 1915. Requisitioned by the French Government and used as a troop transport until 1918, when it was retured to National Greek Line for the Piraeus-New York service, under Greek flag. Renamed "Megalli Hellas" for political reasons in 1919. In 1923 transferred to Byron Steamship Company, as "Byron" under British flag. Returned to Greek flag in 1928, operated until 1935 and scrapped in Italy in 1937.

Technical characteristics: length 470 ft, beam 58 ft, 9272 tn, quadruple expansion steam engines, 2 screws, service speed 17 knots. In passenger service it carried 2310 passengers (60 1st, 450 2nd, 1800 3rd).
