It's a peaceful, scenic spot — less crowded than some other Scottish coastal towns — ideal for relaxing, boating, exploring Argyll's scenery, or as a base for whisky trails and island hopping. Often described as one of Scotland's most attractive wee harbours!
Also known as the gateway to Kintyre!

A fishing village built at the head of an inlet of Loch Fyne called East Loch Tarbert, on a narrow isthmus which connects Kintyre to the south with Knapdale to the north,

It is known as the gateway to Kintyre!

Loch Fyne at Tarbert in Kintyre and to the left of the image the slipway from which CalMac ferries sail to and from the Cowel peninsula, and to the Isle of Arran in winter,

Loch Fyne, is a sea loch off the Firth of Clyde and forms part of the coast of the Cowal peninsula. Located on the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It extends 65 kilometres inland from the Sound of Bute, making it the longest of the sea lochs in Scotland (Wikipedia)
