Line drawings of various Chaldron waggons.

There were many minor points of difference between waggons from each colliery network, but also a great many similarities.

Baader image of the "chaldrons" for Tranent-Cockenzie Waggonway, built in 1722 to carry coal from Tranent to the salt pans at Cockenzie and the harbour at Port Seton. Originally a wooden plateway, it was upgraded to iron rails in 1815.

Early design coal chaldron, with "greedy boards" to increase capacity.

Note the not matching wheels [spokes]
Also, the dumb buffers are extension of the underframe side timbers.
