Miksang is a form of contemplative photography based on visual perception of the everyday world as it truly is, rather than as we imagine it to be.

Instead of seeing and labelling ‘objects’ we see colour, texture and pattern, light and shadow, form and space.

Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates as “good eye.”

There are a series of Statues/Totems commemorating the maritime history of Harrington, NSW, Australia.

The three here near the breakwall at the entrance to the Manning River are for The Pilot Station.

From the plaque....
In 1856 the first Pilot Station was set up here with a maritime pilot and staff of boatmen to assist ships entering and leaving the treacherous ‘gateway’ to the Manning River. Cargoes of cedar, maize, farm produce and livestock were exchanged for staple food and equipment by the settlers. A light beacon, lookout and signal house were built on Flagstaff (Pilot) Hill . The first maritime pilot appointed was Captain Richard Powell, who was followed by Job Bradley and John Muir (…), Murray, Kerkin, Brady, Cauvin and finally… The first boatmen were Hom, Whitnall, Scott and…
Elizabeth Muir was the first Post Mistress in Harrington.

Corymbia ficifolia, commonly known as red flowering gum, is a species of small tree that is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It has rough, fibrous bark on the trunk and branches, egg-shaped to broadly lance-shape adult leaves, flower buds in groups of seven, bright red, pink or orange flowers and urn-shaped fruit. It has a restricted distribution in the wild but is one of the most commonly planted ornamental eucalypts.
