Q8. - Should these cable ferrules be seated in tightly ?
[compared to my m/bike, they are far too slack]

Q1 - does the seat frame actually fit ?
A - Yes, it does.
It can go away to be re-sprung & re-trimmed

[The series of groynes along this area arrest the otherwise significant longshore drift of beach materials - sand, pebbles, and - at the moment - masses of very smelly / rotting seaweed].

Looking southwards along Redcar Prom, from near to The Stray [cafe].

There's a lot of substantial groynes here, which arrest the southwards longshore drift of the beach materials [sand, pebbles - and at the moment, loads of smelly seaweed]

I suspect last night's thunderstorm washed sand out of the "dunes" onto the prom, and thence back to the beach.

Last night's thunderstorm washed the prom clean of sand, which went down these steps, but the flow of water eroded the top layer of sand [exposing the pebbles] and dropped it further towards the sea.

Another memorial bench / artwork on Redcar Prom.

{E2A - someone I knew fairly well in North Wales a few years ago, was known by the nickname "Cap'n Beaky"; Sadly, they died a year or so ago, so this bench reminded me of them.}

Needs a cushion if you are going to sit there for more than a few minutes !

This plaque describes the anchor, on Redcar prom - almost opposite the Zetland Museum - is from the Finnish sailing barque "Birger" which was wrecked in 1898, with the loss of thirteen of the fifteen crew members.
[Birger grounded on Saltscar rocks or hit & wrecked Coatham Pier - source ??] The anchor was recovered in 1999 and now forms a memorial to the Merchant Navy and other seafarers lost at sea.
