It’s not the (probable) twins, it’s not the extremely fancy wicker chair, it’s the large, tilting, apple “mask” surrounding the babies’ portrait that makes this RPPC "strange or unusual!”
Mark on the back of the postcard indicates a date from 1904 to the 1920s.
Looking at the dress, the haircut, the pram, and the style of the photograph places this image somewhere in the 1920s.
Quite a few shadows of, and near, the photographer.
Added to my “Laundry on the Line” Album - among others
For the week of: FEBRUARY 16 - FEBRUARY 22, 2026

Written on back:
Helen - You can recognize her in the other pictures I guess. Dressed up as "Ole".
(written underneath in pencil: Maude Luelet [?]

I wonder if she is referring to Ole the engineer in the book “Choo Choo” by Virginia Lee Burton?

269 B'Way B'klyn Broadway Studio

I love the subtle, lovely tones of this sepia photograph. Obviously a high quality professional studio.
I would guess this is c. mid 1920s.
The top corners have been cut.
Found photo.
For the week of: JANUARY 5 - JANUARY 11, 2026

Looking at the clothing, I would date this photo c.1918 to mid-1920s. I could be wrong about this, but I believe that the style of house on the hill was most popular in the 1910s to the 1930s. So…here we have a fairly run of the mill picture of a mom (probably) with her two girls on Easter morning (probably) - with a new looking house, perched at the top of a hill and built apparently on the edge of a quarry or landslide.
???
Found photo, Ferrisburgh, Vermont. 2013

Pic a day. 2/365

My goal for Ipernity this year is to try to up my contributions to one a day.
I love being part of the Ipernity community (and have no plans to leave it) but I do miss the large community of vintage photograph fans on other sites, where I was inclined to comment and post more frequently.
I generally post once a week here (and treasure and deeply appreciate my fellow Vintage Photo Theme Park cohorts and fans!) but that amount of posting is not enough to put a dent in my large backlog of all kinds of photos. So I’m hoping to do a daily posting of “stuff” to get working on that, including vintage *and* family pre and post 1979, (the VPTP limits.)
Cheers, all!

(For the week of December15 - December 21, 2025)
This is one of 12 photographs I bought at a second hand store in Bristol, Vt about a year ago. The owner purchased them from a house sale in Weybridge - about 15 miles from here. (Bristol).
Some of them have random comments written on them, one of which tells me that the youngest girl is named Claudia.
Think I’ll put these in an new album. I’m tempted to take these over to the Weybridge Town Clerk to see if anyone can tell me more about this family!

For the week of: November 24 - November 30, 2025
Found photo but I forget where it was from.
Strangely, there is only one name on the back - which perhaps suggests these are not twins but cousins and only one of them is not to the recipient of the card.
On the back:
Julia 21/2 yrs old.

October 27 - Nov 2, 2025
Found just yesterday in Essex Junction, Vermont at an antique emporium.
I will be adding this and others I just found to my sadly neglected Groups, this one obviously, VINTAGE STAIRSTEP PHOTOS..
There is some badly faded and damaged pencil writing on the back of this cut RPPC - but I think it’s questioning whether to include the whole group or to just crop the two in front. If that’s it, it fits with the arrow and arc notation on the front.
Anyway, it’s a fun group of kids enjoying their posing and I think it fits the theme pretty well.

October 19 - October 26, 2025.
Perhaps this little girl is posing in an outfit someone sent her as a present - showing them how cute she looks!
I find this photo puzzling. It’s very high glossy with rounded corners and seems almost plastic -y. The little girl appears to me (hair, outfit, shoes,) to be (like the photo format) late 50s, early 60s - and yet those cars in the background look as though they’re from the 1920s and 30s.
Is she out an antique car show? Or what??
I bought this in Bristol, Vermont in 2024. No information.
