Taken beside the path of a nearby trail through the woods.
These large solitary rocks are called “erratics”. They remained, scattered throughout Vermont (and New England) when the mile high ice sheet that had covered the land about 18,000 years ago began retreating north and left them behind - the scraping of mountains formerly caught up in the ice and then deposited after the melt.

HFF, friends!
Here's a winter picture of Bristol, Vermont's famous Creeme Stand.
It opens in late April or early May, depending on the weather.
Most places in Vermont (and only Vermont ) call soft serve ice-cream "creemees" - but we have our own special spelling.
A summer tradition for my kids, their kids, and many, many other current and former Bristolites!
